This book lived up to my high expectations after having read (and thoroughly enjoyed) the first one in the series 'Woman Last Seen'.
I am delighted that the author decided to pen this continuation, because I was not ready to leave Kylie, Mark, Daan, Fiona, Ollie and Seb. I REALLY wanted (needed?) to know what was going to happen to each of them.
I have two words for the author... [image] Both read and listened to, and I give a slight edge to the audiobook.
If I were a teenaged girl / young woman I would have absolutely loved this, and rated it 10 stars!

It would not have bothered me at all that this was a completely cliched story that held absolutely NO surprises whatsoever. I also would not have challenged Miles actions near the end of the book that were COMPLETELY out of character, but that were necessary to complete the story arc.

Ms. Henry has a very engaging style of writing that many will enjoy (as did I). Julia Whelan's excellent narration adds to the pleasure.

I found this to be an uncomfortable novel to listen to. Ms. Howard did an excellent job of narration - but maybe a bit too good. I found her tone to be decidedly creepy. The subject matter was disturbing enough as it was - it didn't need the added embellishment.
Danny Montooth began narrating as Nate in Part 2, and I can't help wondering why? It really broke the flow of the story for me, and he sounded nothing at all like he did in Part 1.
I would have liked Part 3 to have been expanded. The ending seemed very rushed to me. And the last couple of paragraphs were ridiculous, unnecessary, and came out of left field.

Crude language - not my thing. And even though the narrator is nominated for an Audie Award, I can't say that I cared for it.

(view spoiler)[I am not sure who make the decision to have 3 people narrate this story, but whoever it was must think we readers are clueless idiots. There are several male characters in this story, yet only ONE of them rates his own narrator. Can we guess that is because he is the murderer? DUH!
Knowing who the murderer was right from the beginning really ruined it for me. And the entire time I was listening, I became angry at passages like this one – “The killer sent a text to Riley. It made the hair rise on the back of my neck this morning when she told me, in confidence. Why would he do that?”. I was shaking my head because he knew damn well, and there would have been no reason for the hair to raise on the back of his neck. I call that cheap manipulation (hide spoiler)]
I expected much better from this novel.

Somehow, this time the story is just not striking the right tone. When the author started bashing J.K. Rowling, I knew it was time to call it quits.
"Sequels are either too bloated, too stuffed with B-team actors or characters or Ewoks—things that weren’t good enough for the original. A cash grab to profit off something that was probably a fluke in the first place.” - The Guncle Abroad
