Are we supposed to find this charming… humorous… admirable... adventuresome? Nope, none of the above. I don’t like the tone of this novel. I loathe arrogant Frances, and don’t want to continue with this.
I should have read the book blurb. I never would have picked up this novel had I done so.

I am walking away from this. I really, really, REALLY dislike main character Amelia Moore. Why does she thinks that it is ok for HER to scheme to land a wealthy husband for her sister because she “needs it more”, but it is unprincipled if someone else does it? The entire premise is stupid, the period details are sadly lacking, and I am bored by the entire story.

• The author’s use of language was exquisite • I felt transported right into the heart of the Regency period • The time period as comforting as an old friend • The proximity to Jane Austen was as charming and enjoyable as I had hoped it would be
But sadly, I could not find much to like nor admire any of the other characters. I felt that most of the Austen family (as well as Miss Anne Sharp) were portrayed in a very poor light. I would have enjoyed the book more had I liked the characters more.
Be sure not to miss the Author’s Note at the end of the novel.

This novel never clicked with me. The tone of the character's dialogue just never seemed right. Another reviewer said it very well...
DNF. Dialog is horribly stilted. The use of regency slang feels forced and uninformed. The main characters are barely fleshed out so they don't serve as relatedable protagonists.

For someone who supposedly had such high scruples, Rosalind sure didn't mind completely abusing her employer's trust.
There was some good and some bad here. For example: The story was beautifully written, and I adored the author’s use of language BUT… I disliked the suppositions Miss Thorne frequently pulled out of thin air.
