It’s very insightful of a horse’s thoughts and needs especially at the time of history in which it was written. (1877) Horses were used mainly for work and travel. I never thought about the older a horse became the worse his living conditions became with meaner masters in lower society. Great read for younger girls too!...more

I was very happy with this result as I was having a hard time finding one that looked interesting as I don’t read much fantasy. I listened to the audio and different people did all the characters making it a superb product. The storyline was captivating and reminded me of The False Prince. There was maybe one word and would probably be considered YA genre....more

The best parts were the funny stories from his dad’s life and his personal experiences. Some of the book went on about his friends and all the people he met or worked with which wasn’t as interesting. His dad seemed like a hilarious risk taker! While shooting an injured horse he shot his friend in the foot. He was taking this same friend somewhere in his car who was shouting the whole way, blaming it on his being drunk. Upon arriving he discovered he had shut the friend’s hand in the door! ...more

So many eye rolling moments! The beginning was more factual of past events with people who were treated unfairly which of course has happened. But he makes dogmatic statements that are simply not true- like all women in the 1950-60s were just dying to get into the workforce and out of their homes! ...more

Story is slow and charming as the four kids sail their ship and explore the islands around them. There is a part where Titty tries to make a voodoo doll out of candle grease but of course it just melts in the fire. She’s trying to make the great aunt leave her friends’ house but it’s more humorous as she’s all worried thinking she burnt up the “GA” ...more
