A buddy read with my family at BB&B!
This is the fourth book in the series and I keep enjoying as much as when I started!!! It is a PNR with a new couple finding love in each book. The best part of the series, at least to me, is the amazing world building and the specifics which make up the differences between the three main races - the Psy, the Changelings (or animal shifters), and humans. In all the previous books we got to meet Psy and Changeling characters, letting us into the world of brain dominance and physical prowess, but we only heard of the humans, a bit like a filler for the background...
This time, our Leopard Changeling Clay is faced with a ghost from his past. Tally was the 8 year old human girl for whose safety he committed a murder and spend his youth in juvenile detention.... When he came out, he was told she is dead and he never truly stopped grieving for her... Now she is a woman, beautiful and alive, who has come to him to seek help. She has become a social worker and the kids who have been associated with the foundation she is working for, are disappearing, some of them found soon after disfigured, butchered, and lifeless... She wants to save the last one of them, a kid she cares for deeply... Her need of the over protective Leopard is greater than the shame and guilt she feels over lying to him .... But would Clay be able to put away the pain and hurt in order to help her? And could she hope that he could even forgive her???
Clay, however, is a hard sell, and the nature of his beast is not very forgiving... The enigmatic cat is going to have his pound of flesh!!!
I liked Clay a lot and had some issues with the unnecessary angst Tally liked to wallow in... What I loved were the cameos by the previous couples and seeing them grow into devoted lovers and strong players in the world's powers system. The little Cubs are adorable and I want to adopt them all!!! The Psy Council is still fascinating and the machinations behind the scene are intricate and engaging... After finishing this book I wanted to dive straight into the next one, but I had to remind myself to pace the good stuff and not to gorge on treats, which in my case means fun books:-)
I would recommend this series to lovers of romance and a setting of a world full of Fantasy and magnetic creatures! It is a pure pleasure meeting all the characters NS creates for us!!!
I wish you all Happy Reading and may you always find pleasure in every book!!!...more

This is the biographical journey of a young woman from Croatia, who found herself faced with a rare autoimmune disease, and her painful, but ultimately successful road to an unconventional way to deal with it and persevere!
Maya Berger, a creative, smart, and unique young lady, finds the love of her life when least expected, and her boyfriend, Luca, surrounds her with love, romance, and attention the likes of which she had never had before. They travel, and during one of their vacations, she falls while skiing and hurts her knee. This is the beginning of her health issues, which by the time they move into their dream house, consist of constant back, hips, and joint pain, as well as chronic fatigue, some depression, and inability to sleep. Her condition spirals out of control, with her going to numerous conventional, as well as alternative doctors, therapists and healers. Nothing seems to help, pain and the wish to rid herself of it become her whole existence. I know something about chronic pain, and I knew exactly what she was going through... It sucks!!!
Maya is a very lucky woman, because despite all the inconveniences caused by her illness and all the consequent difficulties it puts on her day to day life and marriage, Luca is there for her emotionally, supporting her with his love, understanding, and not spearing a dime in the quest to get Maya better. I developed a very healthy respect for him and am so happy for them as a couple!!!
Maya stumbled upon many cold and uncaring doctors, many charlatans, and many well meaning, but unable to help her people in her quest for healing. She even admits that maybe for some of the healing methodologies she was not in the right frame of mind, or just they were not for her. However, she finds a center for a type of healing with Energy, and although there were many difficulties within this path, it is ultimately the one which leads her to success. This book is about how she took this road, why she stayed with it, and what was it that eventually made her get to the breakthrough that allowed her to reform and enrich her life today.
As I said earlier, the author is from Croatia and English is not her first language. This shows in the sentence structure and the melody of the writing, but is in no way bothersome or distracting from the message. It is a self-help book and as such I can't speak of a plot. It is written as a journal of the years she has been struggling with this illness. It is fascinating to see how much she had to go through in order to just get a reliable diagnosis, let alone find the best way to keep it under control...! My heart goes out to her, her family, and all those who are facing similar situations!...more

My mom and I met him early in my life and his outlook on life and G-d influenced my formative years in a way which shaped me as a person! I am so grateful to my mom, making the reading, meditation and discussions over his books some of the best, most spiritually intimate moments with her in my memory! She has been gone 13 years now and still when I think of her in moments of profoundly missing her and other loved ones who have passed, the moments of feeling so close to all the sparks of Creation while cuddling up in bed reading and discussing Yogananda, come forth in my mind and my spirit finds peace...
His books are not only for people interested in the Eastern Religions. They are deeply spiritual and give some great ideas and advice on being in harmony with nature and mostly, yourself!...more

I have read better, but the pluses for this book are the simplicity of the explanations and advise, thus making it a read for everyone. The other plus is the brevity and to the point approach, which gets to the bottom of the issues immediately and thus advances the book through problems with which the readers might be struggling in a structured fashion. I thought it was very successful as the little book of answers and have several friends I would recommend it to :) :) :) ...more
