I’m mean, just look at that coverI just knew TOGETHER WE ROT would be the perfect book to continue the creepy, horror book binge I’ve been on lately. I’m mean, just look at that cover! And the blurb: ex-friends come together to find a missing mother and take on the other’s satanic cult family. Unfortunately, my reading tastes just did not mesh well with this author’s writing style. It was very introspective and slow and I eventually gave up reading the book all together around 36% after of week of forcing myself to read it in sprints.
I feel like this has the potential to be a very good book if I pushed myself through it, unfortunately, there are too many other books out there, and not enough time for me to force reading something I’m not enjoying. ...more

FLOWERHEART is about ClarOh man, I really thought I would love this book. The cover and the premise called to me…but I just wasn’t able to finish it.
FLOWERHEART is about Clara, a girl with a magic so powerful, the other magic people want to have it bound. The reason they want to take Clara’s magic away is because she cannot control it and they fear she will do something dangerous with it…like her mother. Of course, in Clara’s anger, she poisons her father and puts him in lingering state between life and death. (Insert eye roll). She then convinces her childhood friend to help train her in controlling her magic. And that’s as far as I got.
Clara was young, but she acted even younger and immature for her age. I just wasn’t in the mood to tolerate her childishness. And that makes me sad, because I REALLY wanted to love this book. ...more

Seriously, she pretty much introduced me to the romance genre and I’ve been reading her books for MANY years. Unfortunately, I have not been clicking with her books lately. When I requested this book for review, I was expecting a mountain (cover), small town romance with some angst (blurb). No! This book is heavy and dark. Trigger warning…human trafficking!! Even though that is not a trigger for me, I was misled before opening the book! I’m a moody reader and I know that is not an excuse to complain about a book, but I was not in the right headspace for this.

I’WHEN A ROGUE MEETS HIS MATCH is the second book in Elizabeth Hoyt’s Greycourt series. And like the first book, it is almost completely forgettable. I’m really sad about this because Hoyt is my all time favorite historical romance author and I’ve read everything she’s published. Unfortunately, this current series is not clicking with me AT ALL. Neither character was likable, not even a little bit. I’m always up for a good enemies to lovers book, but I don’t like when the relationship revolves around using each other. I know, it says right there in the blurb what to expect! I may just have to hold off until Hoyt starts a new series, because this one hasn’t been for me since the beginning.
