I was completely hooked from start to finish. The way the story delves into the connections between the characters and the killer is so intriguing.
The setting of the dead and Eve’s previous near-death experience in that very same space really adds a chilling layer to the story. The mystery had me coming back for more!
Overall, PASSIONS IN DEATH was a fantastic read and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Eve in the series....more

From the moment I picked it up until the last word I could not put it down. Plus it's exciting to know that there are more books where we'll get to catch up with Lily and all things poison.
This is an exciting suspense that had loads of medical and chemical information, not so much that it was boring or too technical, but just enough so that you are immersed in all things Lily Robinson.

Although I haven't read the Roma series, this collection of short stories shares the backstories of the characters that you've come to love. Maybe I did it backwards, but I love Gabriel's writing and wanted an afternoon break so I picked this up, then proceeded to devour each of the stories.
Though this isn't a time period or setting that I had previous experience with, Gabriel made each of these stories so real it was like sitting with my Grandfather and hearing the stories directly from him. Loads of nostalgia, brimming with emotion - love and regret, and always a mystery.
Each of these stories took me a while to get over - I was thinking about the characters and the events for days. One I even had to re-read right away because I realized I'd read it to quickly.
Trust me - read this and savor the experience!...more

Nikki is a very interesting character and I really liked her in LAST ONE TO DIE. She's still reeling from her last case, I can't imagine doing that job every day, and you can see the toll it's taking on her emotions and decisions.
The case? Fabulous! I loved how the cold and current cases were pulled together and really enjoyed following the trail of clues as Nikki and the team investigated. This is the perfect summer read!! ...more

I’ve had several people recommend James L’Etoile’s books to me and I’ve not made it a priority in the past. This year I decided that it really needed to be a priority… Boy is this one a winner!
I absolutely loved Emily and Javier this partnership and friendship felt so real even as they dealt with a high-profile mystery that they kept getting shuttered from at every turn. There’s one common thread through the menagerie and that thread is untouchable… To the point that you wonder if they will ever find what really happened… Or why.
If you love police procedurals or great mysteries Face of Greed is certainly the book you’re going to want to grab next!...more

I loved the Willets family and their relationship. It’s honoring, respectful and loving. Something that’s not seen often. I loved – especially being more on Mrs. Willets end of the spectrum – that Caroline and Jeremy didn’t just say ‘I do’. Even though they’d discussed the arrangement and she made a life-altering decision, they still took the time to be sure they were doing the right thing. So in addition to enjoying the characters and the relationship, I loved the thoughtfulness Ms. Scott suggests.
If you’re ready for a sweet romance that’s fun and has a few twists, Regina Scott’s Sudden Mail-Order Bride is the book for you....more

Rita Mars is such a well-developed character that you just feel like you’ve always been in her head as you follow her through her life and investigation.
This is the second book in the Rita Mars Thriller series, but I love that I was able to jump in and start reading without any questions or ever wondering what was going on. And I have to admit there are some standalone novels that I’ve been confused at the onset. It was because of her first book and the amazing reviews it got that I chose to read Objects of Desire....more

Losing a child, even more so. But when you lose a child and find that they were specifically chosen as a random victim… devastating!
And so begins our newest book in JD Robb’s In Death series. Random in Death hits close to home for police detective Eve Dallas. With her friends caught up in the mix, Eve has to determine whether the people she has come to care about could possibly be a part of something so horrific.
Random in Death is one of the more police procedural type books. The mystery is interesting and great to follow as we watch Eve and Peabody work through their suspects and evidence to determine who could be targeting the innocent.
Random in Death is a little steamier than some and the language of it is more salty but it is a very interesting if peaceful story. It has loads of triggers and hits close to home so be prepared with a box of tissues....more

These sweet stories were fun and interesting. I enjoyed each of them but my favorite, of course, was Regina Scott’s novella.
The Aeronauts Heart was fantastic. I don’t know how, but within pages, I was emotionally invested in these characters and couldn’t put my Kindle down! I think, more than my love of steampunk, I really could empathize with the people seeking friendship in a new country. The country they risked their lives to protect. The people they saved. The people who now turned their back because of a different accent…...more

I’ve always loved YA mysteries and Sherlock is, of course, a favorite so it was with great excitement that I pounced on the opportunity to read The Improbable Tales of Baskerville Hall Book.
Can I just say… Wonderful?!
This was a fun, engaging children’s mystery that will be great to share with readers, and listeners, of all ages. Sort of a mashup of Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl and Percy Jackson with the fun Sherlock vibe. While it is a mystery and there’s a sinister plot afoot it remains a fun light labyrinth.
