I enjoyed the first book in this series, The Nowhere Girls, but this one? I couldn't put it down. If you like mysteries with great characters that you can lose yourself in, this is the book for you!
Nikki is a very interesting character and I really liked her in LAST ONE TO DIE. She's still reeling from her last case, I can't imagine doing that job every day, and you can see the toll it's taking on her emotions and decisions.
The case? Fabulous! I loved how the cold and current cases were pulled together and really enjoyed following the trail of clues as Nikki and the team investigated. This is the perfect summer read!! ...more
I loved Carl as a character and his door to door service was so sweet and the relationships that he has with his patrons is so true. I couldn’t help but Wonder what it would be like to have something like that in my small town. The love and generosity of delivering thoughts and feelings and ideas.
Schascha’s uncanny insightfulness and unmatched stubbornness are the perfect foil for Carl’s precision and loneliness.
I don’t believe there is why easy to fully share exactly what this book meant to me or the deep connection I feel for it. There’s so much of this book that I want to keep close to me. Conversations that share true depth. Insights everyone should live by. Observations that should be written on the walls of our lives. This is not a book to read, this is a book to savor… And my heart will keep it with me for a long time.door-to-door-bookstore/ on 6/27...more

I mean, I read all of the In Death releases but it’s been many years since I’ve read anything else but her. I must say, I’ve missed her. I’ve missed the familiar way she pulls you into a book and allows you to experience every moment and every emotion along with the characters.
Now… Identity…. It’s terrifying. Of all the things that we read, books about identity theft are some of the most realistic and consequently frightening. In Identity, I really liked a Morgan and empathized with her. To finally set your life to rights and only have it upended by a sociopath serial killer would be devastating. But to have him personally specifically research you and seek you out? ...more

Before the last few months ofI requested a review copy of Eavesdropping on Lucifer months ago. Before COVID-19. Before the riots. Before the looting. Before the last few months of earth-shattering change that has hit this country.
What I liked: Reminiscent of C.S. Lewis’s Screwtape Letters Eavesdropping on Lucifer is essentially a series of conversations between the “Boss”, Lucifer, and his potential new apprentice.
As we read each chapter we hear the Boss share pridefully with his apprentice what he’s done to destroy mankind. He shares many of his triumphs and how his great works have been overturned. He shares how the good news of the Lord shines through the misery and cultural norms. He shares why God is the choice to be made.
What I didn’t like: It was really hard to see how life is reflected in these pages. It was hard to watch the events play out on the nightly news. As much as I liked Eavesdropping on Lucifer, I can’t like how real it is....more
