The Dragon's Bride was not only my first introduction to monster romance but to Katee Robert. The verdict... I LOVED IT!! The cover alone is beautiful. The story was sweet and fastpaced with just the right amount of detail to keep me entertained.
Sol was a big cinnamon roll alpha. He handled Briar with so much tender care and affection. I loved Briar's character development and growth towards the end. Black Sunshine by Karina Halle is twisted and utterly intriguing!
The book centers around Lenore Warwick. She's about to turn 21 and soon discovers that she's not only a vampire but hybrid mix as she's a descendant of witches, too. Then there's the brooding and dark Absolon Stavig who definitely piqued my interest. He's the anti-hero you'll love to hate, struggling internally against the connection he feels towards Lenore.
Both supernatural groups are after Lenore with Absolon as her protector.
I loved how Karina mixed the vampire and witchcraft themes, giving readers suspense and darkness with the "black sunshine" element. That being said, I am very familiar with the paranormal genre. Give me vampires and witches everyday and I'm there. But, the story pick up was a bit slow for me and didn't really pick up for me until about halfway into the story. But when it did, oh boy was I in for a treat!
Ultimately, there was a lack of a connection to the heroine as well as the beginning plot which explains my overall rating. Regardless of the slow start, the ending definitely left me wanting more of this world and these characters.
Looking forward to reading more of Karina's paranormal stories!!

Kerri Maniscalco brought me back to my love of YA Paranornal! Kingdom of the Wicked is such an intriguing tale that held me captive, stuck on the edge from page one!!
Ominous and dark, everything from the premise to the characters to the world of witches and demons was enticing and swept me away. I loved every moment, but fair warning this novel may trigger some people.
Our heroine, Emilia Di Carlo is a Strega Shadow Witch. Her and her twin sister Vittoria secretly live among humans, avoiding being noticed and evading persecution. But one night something is amiss. Vittoria is found murdered, her body desecrated. Emilia wants revenge and will stop at nothing until she finds who killed her beloved sister.
Soon Emilia dives into the dark magic and her path brings her to one of the Wicked princes of Hell, Wrath.
“There are seven demon princes, but only four di Carlos should fear: Wrath, Greed, Envy, and Pride. One will crave your blood. One will capture your heart. One will steal your soul. And one will take your life.”
From the moment Emilia and Vittoria's amulets touched 10 years ago, a chain of events were unleashed. The gates of Hell are slowly crumpling and soon demons and the like will infest Earth. Shrouded in mystery, secrets, and intrigue, you will not want to put this action packed novel down!!
Enough said about the forbidden slow burn romance between a witch and a demon. Emilia and Wrath's relationship is filled with animosity in the beginning but the moments when they let their guards down are tender and sweet. I especially loved the witty banter between them #swoon. There is so much more to come with this couple that I feel we won't be prepared for!! With that ending I don't know how I will be able to wait for the second book!!
This is my first read by Kerri Maniscalco and I can reassure you it will NOT be my last! I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for that bit of darkness mixed with the world of fantasy.

A Touch of Stone & Snow is filled with slow burning angst, longing, sacrifice and passionate love.
Warriors of the realms unite to fight against the Destroyer and become the gathering of Dragons. A dire misunderstanding separates Aerax and Lizzan, painting Aerax as a villain in Lizzan's eyes. For when Lizzan was amidst the battle she witnessed the horrors of the Wraiths. She was the lone survivor but instead of seeing her as such, her people deem her as a deserter and Lizzan is exiled.
"But there was nothing else for Lizzan to say. She only slowed to collect her belongings. Running away. Not long ago, she’d been exiled from her home, branded as a deserter and a coward by an entire realm. This was the first time she’d ever felt like one."
Now, Lizzan must follow her quest and undo the shame cast upon her family name.
Lizzan and Aerax were by far my favorite couple of the series. Also, I really loved the mythical world consisting of all the different Gods and creatures: My favorite had to be Caeb, the Saber-toothed cat ...more
Beautiful world building with suspenseful twists and turns at every page, Bound by Forever by S. Young is another brilliant installment to the True Immortality series!!
Niamh Farren is a powerful fae that has visions of the future. Treking all through Europe, she's attempting to make sense of what her visions truly mean. Burdened by grief and loss, Niamh begins to lose herself. She's dead set on revenge, but seeking it out may very well cost her her life.
Kiyo Fujiwara is the only immortal werewolf of his kind and he's hired by Fionn Mór to protect Niamh. He's a loner, a lost soul wandering for nearly 150 years, living the life of a nomad and spending eternity as a mercenary for hire. So, to say Kiyo wasn't too thrilled about his new task is putting it mildly. But, I must admit I was extremely intrigued by this broody character ever since meeting him in Kiss of Vengeance.
Put together a grumpy lone wolf and a beautiful tortured fae and you end up with pretty explosive chemistry and a sweet, sweet slow burn! In the beginning, all they did was bicker back and forth but as time went on they got to know one another. Finally, succumbing to the deep-rooted feelings each felt.
Not only will you get a series filled with the paranormal, but each book you get to fall in love with these characters. The series has intricately woven each book together, leading to an epic ending coming in 2021!! This is definitely a series I recommend you try. Action and a swoon worthy romance, Bound by Forever is such a thrilling read!

Maddek is driven by revenge against those who murdered his parents, the beloved queen and king. He's a strong, brooding warrior and has no qua3 STARS!
Maddek is driven by revenge against those who murdered his parents, the beloved queen and king. He's a strong, brooding warrior and has no qualms about fighting for his people and his land. But Maddek's hatred and disgust towards Zhalen runs deep as Zhalen is a corrupt and selfish ruler of Syssian. Though Maddek believes the whole family line to be rotten to the core, he marries Zhalen's daughter.
“But there is a daughter. An heir with moonstone eyes. It was she who sent the letter that brought your parents to their end.”
Yvenne, Zhalen's daughter, is believed to have had a hand in the demise of Maddek's father and mother, so Maddek does not trust her, and for a good portion of the story sees her as only a way for him to seek his revenge.
"As soon as Zhalen’s daughter was within his grasp, he would make her pay for her treachery. Vengeance would be his."
At the 50% mark in the novel, Maddek's thoughts and actions were very tedious and back and forth. One moment, he was having a hard time trusting Yvenne, then the next, he feels bad for not trusting her, only to say an hour later that he doesn't trust her again and she's just a vessel to get his revenge and plant his seed (his words not mine). Meanwhile, poor Yvenne has endured a lot but remains resilient and strong regardless of her weak state. She's a fierce queen whose loyal to her people and she never stops showing readers these qualities.
The secondary characters and their relationships were intriguing and added a aspect to the story that I found captivating. Also, I really liked the world-building. This novel had a great premise and storyline but the romance was lacking and the chemistry unbelievable, you know, when they finally reach that level of intimacy.
A Heart of Blood and Ashes by Milla Vane was that perfect clash of Vikings meets Game of Thrones. Though it was slow to me and the romance was not what I expected, I enjoyed the overall world that Milla has created. So, I do recommend giving this one a try. Who knows, it might just turn out to be a favorite of yours and then you can call me crazy ;)...more

Lies. Betrayal. Suspense.
The Hunted by Bethany-Kris was a mildly dark retelling of The Little Mermaid. This book is the introduction to 9INE REALMS, a series of dark fairytale retellings written by different authors.
Arelle is princess of the Blu Sea. After a series of events, Arelle is the next in line to rule and must marry to unite the kingdoms but there's a problem... Prince Eryx is the heir to the Atlas Kingdom. After the death of his mother, Eryx seeks vengeance to kill the mermaid who murdered his mother.
Arelle and Eryx mate and form an unbreakable bond. With the bond, Eryx is able to capture Arelle and use her as he pleases. As the story progresses we watch as these two slowly fall in love.
Secrets are also revealed that could change the whole course of their lives. However, the ending left a lot of my questions surrounding the secrets unanswered and as the story came to a conclusion it was unclear if there will be another book in the future to tie everything together. Overall, it was an enjoyable read with so much potential. So much so, I am hoping the author will be able to expand this story one day or at the very least pen a prelude that focuses on the merpeople before the hunting began, chronicling the events that lead to the hunting of mermaids and ending where The Hunted begins. Now with that being said, this was my first read from this author and I must say her writing style definitely has me intrigued as I am looking forward to reading her mafia books.

"No one had ever kissed her like Fionn. Like she was air. Life. Food and water all in one."
Kiss of Vengeance is the second installment to S. Young'sTrue Immortality series. Though it could be read as a standalone, I suggest reading the books in order as there is so much more information about Fionn Mór.
Rose Kelly is lost and doesn't know her purpose in the world. She's been a nomad for sometime, never staying in one place for too long. One night at a nightclub in Croatia during her bartending shift she begins to sense trouble and feels someone is after her. Soon, she comes to face-to-face with Fionn Mòr, an ancient Fae who explains to her who she truly is and soon becomes her mentor; training her on how to use her abilities.
Fionn Mór is briefly introduced in book 1 and getting the full force of this enigmatic being was spellbinding. You guys, he's so brooding and intense, and it's so sexy. Fionn is on a mission to slay Aine, the Faeire Queen and seek vengeance against her for putting him in purgatory. Little does he know that Rose is so much more than a weapon to get to the Fae Queen.
Holy Moses! The banter and attraction between these two was palpable and I loved every single minute of it!! I couldn't get enough of this story and it's characters. I was swept away by the allurement of it all and constantly on the edge of my seat! These books are addicting and I'm ready to consume more!! Hands down, this is definitely a must read series if you're a fan of Paranormal Romance.

The Guinevere Deception was my first book by Kiersten White and it took a different direction than I thought it would. Kiersten gives the Ki3.5 STARS!
The Guinevere Deception was my first book by Kiersten White and it took a different direction than I thought it would. Kiersten gives the King Arthur legends an unexpected twist that will leave you wanting more from the last page. Also, let's note that the cover of this novel is absolutely stunning!
Though the story had a bit of a slow start, I was immediately intrigued by Guinevere and Mordred's chemistry. Guinevere is sixteen and has been raised in a convent. She leaves home to wed King Arthur; however, turns out this young woman isn't the real Guinevere but a changeling witch sent by the great Merlin to protect Arthur.
I didn't feel much chemistry between Arthur and Guinevere. Arthur was brooding. He wasn't the main focus in the story. Alot of the plot dealt with Guinevere hiding her true identity and the fact that she was a witch for magic has been abolished in Camelot.
This was definitely a book that gave me a lot of mixed feelings but it is also a book that readers should go into with an open mind because Kiersten will hands down surprise you, especially with her writing!

The Girl the Sea Gave Back by Adrienne Young is the most anticipated sequel to Sky in the Deep. Getting immersed back into the world of Vikings and ancient Gods was everything!
The story takes place ten years after Sky in the Deep. We meet new characters and see beloved characters again. Right away Adrienne will sweep you up into an adrenaline fueled rush and action packed moments. The battles were brutal and I was constantly on the edge of my seat.
Tova is a Truthtongue of the Kyrr clan, this mystical tribe that is tattooed in markings. A Truthtongue is a type of seer who uses stones with runes to see into the past, present, and future. This makes Tova a very powerful and feared person.
There were a couple reasons I decided to rate it 4 stars. First, the storyline started off slow. The excitement not really picking up until the half way mark. Then we have the possible connection between Tova and Halvard. The potential for a romance to blossom was there and it ended abruptly!! Adrienne definitely teased us readers in the romantic aspect of the novel.
Overall, I enjoyed this title immensely! I will be reading all of Adrienne's words and I'm hoping there is another book in this series. I'll always need need more of these characters!

Sky in the DeepIt has been four years since I've read YA Fantasy and I must say I am so happy to return to the genre that birthed my love for reading.
Sky in the Deep begins with an epic battle scene and you're immediately pulled into the action along side the heroine. Truly an adventure, this was an entertaining story of family and friendship with elements of a slow burn romance!

1917, Imperial Russia 🇷🇺. The Romanov family are exiled and placed in a cramped house in Tobolsk. The Bolsheviks, a group of revolutionaries, have forced Tsar Nicholas II to abdicate the Russian monarchy.
Based off historical events, the story of the Romanovs is equally wondrous and tragic. Brandes did an excellent job incorporating some true facts, especially regarding the final days of the Romanovs.
We have Nastya, our heroine. She's fierce and brave with a mischievous nature. Another key character was Alexei, he fought through his illness and never gave up. I loved the relationship between Nastya and Alexei. Through Brandes writing readers are able to see how much these two characters truly loved each other. Then there's Zash. Nastya and Zash's romance had potential but it needed more depth and was very much tragic.
Immediately, I was drawn in by the cover and the title of this book. Once I read the blurb, I was sold! Unfortunately, not much happens in the first half of the book. Actually, it drags in the beginning and picks up a bit during the second half. One aspect in particular I really loved was how Brandes brought elements of magic and fantasy into this story such as the use of spell ink to wield magic. Though it takes a strange turn towards the end and I was left somewhat puzzled, I did enjoy the concept this novel presents.
Brandes really made me want to learn about the history of the Russian Revolution and more on the last days of the Romanovs. Especially since I have always been fascinated with the story of the young princess, Anastasia and her mysterious disappearance/death. Overall, I was fascinated with the history fueling the plot but the story itself wasn't what I expected.

The Beast's Heart by Leife Shallcross is a spellbinding retelling of the classic story, Beauty and the Beast yet Leife makes the story her own!
Told from the Beast's point of view only, there is lots of magic and one creepy looking fairy, but there is no talking candlestick here.
The beginning was difficult for me to grasp, as the story progressed I began to feel the anguish of the Beast. He's wounded, angry, filled with self-hatred, and lonely. The Beast's Heart was very descriptive but at times it slowed the pace of the story down. Regardless, I enjoyed the magical aspects as well as the secondary characters, and the epilogue is what dreams are made of.
An unlikely friendship between Isabeau and the Beast blooms into something more. With time, will Isabeau learn to love the Beast? Read and find out.
