Next Year in Havana explores the political unrest growing in Cuba. Marisol embarks on a journey to learn about her heritage and where she comes from thanks to Elisa, her beloved grandmother's teachings.
I never felt so many emotions all at once while reading. This book was so profound, deeply and intricately tied to Cuba's history! I felt like I was transported back in time to a country filled with so much injustice; for the Cuban people face a sad reality.
Next Year in Havana has truly made me look at Cuba in such a different light after reading. Entertaining. Vibrant. Exhilarating. Simply an extraordinary story with amazing, brave, and resilient characters that will captivate your hearts and souls. Chanel Cleeton is a brilliant storyteller. She gave me a much needed history lesson and I'll never let this story go. I'll never forget this story as this story is a story that needs to be read and shared everywhere!
I finally finished! You all might be wondering what took me so long, right!? Well I just needed to take those extra moments to pace myself. I've realized I've been doing that a lot recently with reading and that in doing so, I have a greater appreciation of the book.
It was hard for me not to feel a little frustrated with Thea, the heroine. Due to her own experiences as a child, she was extremely jaded and could not overlook the mistakes Gavin made. I feel like he deserved a second chance instantly and I rooted hard for him from beginning to end; however, the story wouldn't have taken the course it did if Thea was quick to give him that chance, sigh. A Five-Minute Life was timeless. A master piece. More than a story. Its everything... Loss, pain, friendship, love. I was once again reminded that Emma Scott is a literary genius!
Never has a book emotionally broke me down like this one did. Its hard to form the words to adequately describe how much this book touched my heart and soul. I can't do it justice. __

"Truth didn’t live in the light; it hid in the dark , dancing with demons, afraid to be set free, afraid to be seen by judgmental eyes."
Just when I think Jewel E. Ann can't surprise me with her writing anymore than she already has she proves me wrong and writes Jersey Six! I'm at a loss for words. This book will completely shock you. When you think you have it all figured out, you will soon realize you really don't.
Jersey Six is an interconnected web of hurt, pain, loss, lies, betrayal, and truths. It's so messy and suspenseful and down right f'ed up!
This book is dark. Raw. It deals with abuse. Its not the typical angsty romance you'll read from this author. Not only that, but Jewel also takes the idea of a rockstar romance in a totally different direction.
"Sometimes… sometimes when you close your eyes, when darkness comforts you, the truth doesn’t matter because no one can see it."
Jersey Six relates to real life and the horrors of homelessness. This book tells a broken story yet a beautiful one. It makes you really sit back and think about the kind of world we live in and when do we say 'enough is enough'.
Jewel E. Ann is truly my forever author. She writes such in-depth stories and this one is a prime example of creative uniqueness. Hands down, you will devour this book from start to finish!

From the beginning All of Me will have you wanting more! It's angsty, torturous, and a bit heartbreaking!

But one encounter with Grace; this broken beauty has his walls slowly cracking. He does not want to care about her, yet he feels like he needs to protect her.
Instant, consuming, and undeniable attraction! Ian is drawn to Grace like a moth to a flame. He tries to fight it, but he can't help but chase after her. I wanted to enjoy it slowly and take in every moment. Savour it. To say that I hated Damon Torrance is an under statement. That's the beauty of anti-heroes, you soon realize that they're human deep down. Damon was so in-depth and complex. He's scarred but he's not broken. He fought and was very self-aware. He knew when to ask for forgiveness. As my bestie said "he's a soft gummy bear", but he only shows that side to Winter ...more

Jewel E. Ann writes so deeply, so profoundly that it steals your breathe away! A Place Without You was all that and more! I'm once again blown away by this author's storytelling. She's raw. She's real. She doesn't sugarcoat things. She makes you feel. She makes you contemplate life. Her words are simply beautiful and everything all wrapped up in one!
Bodhi and Henna's story is the essence of eternal love. The lyrics to the most beautiful, tragic, and happy song. Regret, growth, life, and everything you want love to be! Two characters who learned from each other and lived.
There are no words at the moment I could use to describe the beauty of this book. It's truly special and I will carry this story in my heart always 💜

Once again Devney Perry reminds me of the power she has as a writer to make me feel so much all at once. Tinsel was the story that brought the depth of the characters out into the light. Their struggles. Their conflicts. Their insecurities and their differences. Not all the characters are the same and each have a story to share. It's just so amazing and wonderful!
Sofia Kendrick is the character you love to hate. When I first met her in Tattered, I couldn't stand her and I really wanted to slap her in the face. Watching her in Tinsel and seeing how her family and society portrayed her as this spoiled rich princess was heartbreaking. Yet, she rose from the ashes to prove she can be somebody of worth. Though she struggled to find herself, she wasn't useless.
Then we have Dakota Magee. Gosh, I love all the men of Lark Cove. They're all so special and Dakota was no exception. He's an intriguing man. An enmiga. He fights his own demons and struggles. Being an American Indian and not following in his families traditions is his burden to bear. He wants so badly to make his family proud and for them to understand him.
Together Dakota and Sofia, were a force to be wrecken with. So different and from completely different paths in life, their relationship begins as a ten day fling that grows into so much more. These two had to overcome many obstacles and really find themselves. It was passionate. Their chemistry explosive and awe-inspiring. I was immediately drawn in and couldn't let go. I rooted for them every step of the way!
Tinsel was perfection. A great ending to a magnificent series. Sexy, sweet, emotional, life changing, and breathtaking. With that final note, I will miss this series and these characters so much. This is not a goodbye, but a see you soon!

Devney 4.5 DARLING MOLLY STARS!
"Some mistakes were unforgivable. Some mistakes came with a regret that lived like a monster in your soul."
Devney Perry writes so effortlessly that it's hard to stop and not want to consume every word. This story was so heartbreaking yet healing at the same time. Watching these two souls who once loved each other separate and come together again truly warmed my heart.
Six years have passed since their divorce. Molly is at a place in her life where she's content—business at the Maysen Jar is going great, the kids are happy, and her co-parenting relationship with Finn is stable. But, her heart still hasn't healed.
Then one night, Finn and Molly's finely combed life changes. Lines are crossed and an affair ensues. While Molly is hesitate, Finn wants more. Wants that second chance. Then the letters arrive.
"No matter how many days or months or years went by, Molly was still unforgettable. The best I’d ever had."
Each letter represented so much emotion. So much history. So much pain. It forced them to address the issues they had in their marriage. The letters also allowed readers to see that Finn and Molly needed the separation in order to get where they are six years later and fix all the wrongs.
Letters to Molly is a second chance romance that will capture your heart. It's beautiful and heartwrenching. It will hit you with so many feels all at once. Hands down, it's a must read!

Ultimate Sacrifice by K.C. Lynn, the first book in her new Men of Courage series, was an emotional filled romance with elements of suspense 🙊. Danger lurks in this small town of Colorado. An arsonist is on the loose and the men of Fire Station Two must uncover who it is before they strike again!

Whiskey Girl by Adriane Leigh was my first read by this author and such a beautiful love story it was. A love story brimming with hurtful pasts, regrets, heartbreak, and second chances. A love story that brings Fallon Gentry and Augusta Belle Benson together. They meet one fated, sunny day on a bridge. Fallon saved her from jumping off. But really they saved each other and from that moment on they were glued together. Due to circumstances beyond their control, Fallon and Augusta are separated until they're reunited 10 years later.
It was such a hard journey for Fallon without his whiskey girl. He carried so much resentment and hurt, never knowing the pain Augusta went through a lot as well. As the story unraveled, lots of truths and secrets come to fruition that shed light on why Augusta had disappeared. Watching these characters grow and seeing their love finally prevail was such an emotional journey.
Whiskey Girl was a timeless love story, filled with music and sunshine. It wasn't easy; it was messy, raw and real. You'll be left longing for a love like Fallon and his whiskey girl....more
Okay. So where do I even begin to express the endless amount of feels this book gave me! It's been awhile that a book truly made 5 'DOG SURFING STARS!
Okay. So where do I even begin to express the endless amount of feels this book gave me! It's been awhile that a book truly made me feel everything at once and this quickly became a top 2018 favorite!! Once again, this duo has blown me away with their writing. At this point, it no longer feels like two authors writing, it's like their souls immersed together and created this beautiful story that began with a blue stationary note pinned to a wedding dress.
The beginning sets the tone of the story perfectly. We have Charlotte Darling, this vibrant, slightly nutty, sweet and outgoing woman who discovers this wonderful wedding dress after trying to sell her own dress (she caught her fiance cheating). But what she never expected to find was the blue note hidden in the dress from a man named Reed Eastwood. She's had a lousy day to put it simply and now her life is in shambles after losing everything, yet this note gave her hope. But Reed Eastwood is by far nothing like the romantic man who wrote that note. He's basically a douche canoe and very arrogant. Scorned from love himself.
From the moment Reed and Charlotte met it was instant attraction and hate. Watching these two banter and argue was that sweet cherry on top for the perfect enemies to lovers romance! Ugh, the sparks freaking soared!
Not only were the main characters great, but the secondary characters were just as wonderful and amazing! Also, be ready for a bit of a twist to the story that will leave you shook 🙊!
Hate Notes was romantic, fun, sexy, filled with angsty and a whirlwind affair! Sigh. I truly enjoyed this book. It was just beautiful 😍 I laughed, I cried, I swooned... I fell in love!! Thank you, Penelope and Vi for this unforgettable book! 💜

The way The Upside of Falling ended you immediately get a gut feeling of how The Downside of Love will play out. Meghan Quinn made me second guess a lot of things throughout the journey she took me on. Specifically, the entirety of book one. And I struggled. I didn't go willingly, but I went and she took me through almost every emotion---screaming and kicking as I resisted.
The Downside of Love wasn't at all what I suspected, yet it was just as heartbreaking as it's companion novel.
Even when Meghan manipulated my emotions and threw me off, she proves why she's such a brilliant writer! This book will shock you in the best way possible. Go in reading it with an open mind and please read the books in order. Bonus: Everyone gets the HEA they deserve! 💃

Well then... I was not expecting that. At all! But I knew it was coming. I felt it deeply and in my very gut as my heart raced. Now I'm left here wondering what the heck is happening!? What have you done, Meghan Quinn!?
The Upside of Falling was beautifully heartbreaking and an emotional story of perseverance. It was everything you look for in a good angst filled romance that will give you all the feels!
Colby Brooks is an amazing, yet broken man. Brooding, quiet, and somewhat gloomy. He dreams of being up in the sky and becoming a fighter pilot just like his grandfather. He's a man that carries his demons on his shoulders. The loss and pain he's endured has caused him to build an impenetrable barrier... until Rory of course.
Rory she's beautiful, sweet, and loyal. She gives up on her dreams to take care of her family. Colby and her meet at a party where their attraction for one another is potent and hard to deny, but Colby fights against it. Rory is feisty and she doesn't give up on him. She slowly breaks down those walls that surround him. She's the light among the darkness for him.
Colby and Rory spend the most magnificent months together. Sharing each other's hopes, dreams, and secrets while basking in their love. But not all good things end happily. Soon everything is crumbling and you're left shocked 😲.
This book will throw you a curve ball you'll never see coming and that's for sure! I'm angry, confused, and on the verge of throwing something... but I loved it!! Every single mintue of this book I loved it. A definite must read, I need book 2 now please!

When I found out that Corinne Michaels and Melanie Harlow were collaborating together, I was ecstatic! It was hard to tell which author wrote what part because it felt like one author wrote it. That's what you look for in a book written by two and these ladies did not disappoint!
Hold You Close was filled with so much emotion, gave me a lot of feels, and was a great enemies-to-lovers romance.
I loved reading from both Ian and London's perspectives. You could really see how much they resented one another after everything that happened in the past. While their love remained dormant for a bit I did think both needed to grow up.
Overall, I enjoyed this story and these characters. My heart really went out to them. Corinne and Melanie nailed it! I'm looking forward to more books written by this duo in the future!...more
Unconscious Hearts, the first book in a brand new series from Harper Sloan reminded me exactly why I love this woman's writing!! This book was the perfect combination of angsty, sexy, and suspense!
Of course a strong female character could not be far behind. Ari Daniels is fierce and feisty. She's inherited her mother's shop and her love for fashion, which in turn brings a strapping, brooding alpha into her life. But Ari continues to suffer from old wounds that you gradually see heal thanks to one certain man.
A man named Thorn Evans.
Sweet baby Jesus, Thorn is basically a God. A big, tattooed, closed off alpha God who also carries scars from his past, but one look at Ari and he knows he wants more then he could ever imagine.
Two broken souls embark on a journey together, taking risks along the way. With an explosive connection, tons of sexiness, and an orange tabby cat named, Dwight and you have the recipe for success!! And those memorable secondary characters? Harper makes you want their stories too!! It has been stated that this is Harper's best work to date and I couldn't agree more. Harper has this ability to make you feel everything all at once. Unconscious Hearts is an intriguing, emotional page turning must read!!

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang was by far my favorite book of 2018, so naturally when I heard Helen was writing Khai's book I was filled with excitement to once again visit this dynamic world Hoang creates. With that being said, The Bride Test was absolutely perfect!
Khai is autistic and doesn't feel nor recogonize emotions. Being from a strict Vietnamese family doesn't help either. It's expected of him to marry and carry on the family name, so you can imagine his irritation and frustration when his mother sets out to set him up.
Esme encounters Khai's mother, Cô Nga in the women's bathroom who convinces her to come to the U.S. from Vietnam to meet/marry her son. Thinking of her family struggles, this is an offer Esme cannot refuse as she has hopes of providing a better life for herself and for her family.
When Khai and Esme meet it does not go as planned. Not only is their relationship unconventional but Khai feels no connection to Esme and acts rather rudely towards her. Afterall, she is a stranger and in Khai's mind that simple fact is amplified. Then there's Esme, she lives with anxiety of being in a new place and believes that she is the cause of his behavior. It's later on that Esme understands exactly why Khai acts that way.
Though their relationship wasn't perfect, with time the relationship between Khai and Esme slowly blooms; and that's the beauty of it all. These two unusual characters complimented one another very well, learning from each other.
A slow paced and swoony romance, The Bride Test will have you wanting to read everything Helen Hoang writes!

I just finished the most incredible book! Ugh, how can I even function right now... What is life!?
I really don't even know where to begin. Let me first and foremost thank Christine from Shh Moms Reading. Once again she reached out to me, encouraging me to take a chance on a story and since the first recommendation from her, she hasn't steered me wrong.
Calia Read is a new author to me and The Surviving Trace was the first book I've ever read by her and let me tell you, she did not disappoint! She's a lyrical writer. At times it felt like poetry and was just filled with beautiful lines throughout the entire story. I will be devouring everything this author writes from now on.
The Surviving Trace was set both in the present and the past. It was a timeless love story filled with intrigue, passion, and mystery. It consumes you from the very first page to the last! You're left with so many questions and the desire and need to hold your breath until the next book. I feel like I'm experiencing a heartstopping adrenaline rush!
Everything about this book was perfect, especially the characters! From the cover to the intriguing synopsis, The Suriviving Trace had me in its clutches even before the story captivated me completely with just a few chapters!
