This volume is just as charming and it's honestly a good model for how people should treat each other in terms of gender, sexuality, or anything else (Nick's mom is wonderful, for example). I love Greek myth retellings but they have to be done REALLY, REALLY well and in kind of a serious way, and while I also love romance, this story is the kind of romance I hate. Needless drama, miscommunication, it’s taking forever for the two MCs to get together, etc. I think this just isn’t for me, but I appreciate that it exists for others....more

I always knew I would like it, but I don’t like to do my pleasure-reading online, so I’m very grateful that Smythe is publishing this beloved webtoon for those of us who like holding books in our hands! I’m really digging this upbeat and modern version of events, and my favorite thing is the portrayal of Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades’ relationship. I also love Hera in this. She’s not a bitter shrew, and she’s sweet and has cool powers. Thank you, Rachel Smythe, for putting a much more positive spin on Hera specifically. My one criticism is that the art is sometimes really confusing to me, but that might just be a *me* thing. Can’t wait for the next volume! I gotta see if Persephone picks up the phone! ;-)...more

The stories in this act of the whole collection don’t mesh as well with each other as those in the first act, and I’m not as interested in all of them as I am in others. This is an issue I had with the written series as well. However, I do appreciate the rewrite that Wanda’s story got. It’s much more accepting and nuanced than the original version, and I’m happy Gaiman decided to give it more attention. In addition, this act does have one of my favorite storylines in it, which is the one in which Lucifer (yes, the devil) quits his job and Morpheus gets the key to Hell and then has to decide what to do with it. This story is what inspired Lucifer (the show), which I love (ok a lot of that has to do with Tom Ellis but it’s a fun show to watch in general, I swear). My five star rating is because, just like act 1, the production of this is just so impressive and well done. Lots of care went into the entire project, and you can tell while you’re listening. Special shout-out to Rege-Jean Page, who can apparently sing BEAUTIFULLY, and in GREEK, no less! I’m definitely pumped for Act III!...more
