Patience was a heroine I liked immediately. As this is written primarily from her point of view, it was easy to connect with her. When Brodie confronts her at one point, she didn’t hesitate to let him have it, and I love that she was confident enough to do so in the face of a man many would find intimidating.
While we didn’t get a lot of Brodie, there was enough there to understand that he liked what he saw in Patience. He’s definitely got that protective alpha hero vibe going which is always a win in my opinion. Watching him pay the price after making a colossal mistake was pretty fun.
Although this was not heavy in drama, it still had plenty of mystery and suspense driving the story forward. The chemistry between Patience and Brodie was clearly evident, but their relationship really didn’t have enough time or opportunity to take off until the end. This is a fast, short read perfect for a quick break or something between longer reads.

Let go from her job, Charley is trying to start her own assessment company. When her new client, the one who could really get her name out there, ends up being the same man who tried to steal her milk, she’s got concerns. He’s a complete adrenaline junkie, lives an outrageous life and she’s extremely attracted to him. But when her best friend finagles them into going on a trip together, she’s wondering who the risk taker is now?
’He was nothing but the shiny object that would derail her from her plans. The bell to her bird. The squirrel to her dog. Her kryptonite.’
[image]
Despite being careful about everything in her life, Charley always ends up in one botched up situation or another. She’s adorkable, accident prone, and too cute for words. I enjoyed watching her try to avoid her attraction to Chris, knowing it was a losing battle. ’He was like a great big ball of golden sunshine that warmed and cheered everyone around him, no matter what their intentions. The man was contagious.’
[image]
Chris lives for the adrenaline high, living life on the edge. I loved that he challenged Charley and drew her out of her protective shell.
’The woman had uptight down to a science. And he knew just how to make her unravel.’
From the very beginning they had a spark that grew into intense heat. Their reasons for ignoring the chemistry between themselves believable.
This couple were so much fun together. The banter is sharp and quick, cute and engaging. There were some hilarious moments as Charley got herself, and him by association, into various situations. I was a bit disappointed that this character trait tended to die down as the story progressed. However, it was enough to enjoy the thought that the risk assessor was more at risk than the one being assessed.
This is a story that will immediately pull you in due to the meet cute and then the continued cute which eventually moves into emotional involvement between the hero and heroine. The conflict was a bit under thought but didn’t take long to resolve. The angst level is definitely low and the heat, once they gave in, was pretty steamy. Mostly, this is just a great feel good story with wonderful characters that make you smile.

What a fantastic series! I have loved each book, each character and each couple more than the one before. This one however blew away every expectation I had and then some.

This story took me by surprise with all of its layers. Each one building the tension and adding to the overall richness of the plot and its ultimate conclusion. I was totally consumed and found myself being pulled further in with each turn of the page.

Zinnia and Morse (Death) are a couple that I will not forget easily. Their evolving relationship ran me through my whole gamut of emotions. I found this a tangle of heartwarming, heart aching and heart wrenching, making me smile, swoon and not just cry, but sob my heart out! Without a doubt, this is my top favorite read.

I’ve been waiting for Wapi’s story from the moment he first stepped onto the page. His past with Lindsey is wrought with pain and heartache for both of them. I liked that they were both struggling with strong emotions. For Wapi it was his own actions along with guilt and for Lindsey it was actions that were out of her control.
Lindsey’s feisty nature and Wapi’s fierce loyalty was everything that I love. Their sizzling heat was the icing on top without overrunning the story. This is a rich and layered storyline that kept me reading when I needed to set it aside. The characters, drama and mystery kept me completely captivated and the characters from so many of this author’s other series had me absolutely giddy.
While this could be read as a stand alone, I recommend you read the previous books.

This book gave it to me in layers as each characters' past is slowly revealed. Breanna’s layers began in the previous book Citadel. I admit, I was a bit apprehensive going into this one. However, Ms. Kent exposed the dark part of Breanna's life in a manner that pulled me into her story and gripped my heart.
While we are not given Aiden's point of view, there were enough hints along the way to guess where his heart and mind were. Of course, there were also those times that I found myself questioning his motivations. His gentle care of Breanna when she needed it won me over big time.
This is filled with a lot of action, some serious danger and drama, as well as moments that had me tearing up. It's also laced with the perfect amount of steam, written in a way that had me moving Aiden to the top of my recent favorite hero list.
Heroine POV Safe (view spoiler)[ no ow/om drama; h not a virgin; H not a manwhore (hide spoiler)] Triggers (view spoiler)[ in the past, h had to use sex to help her and her sister survive - not on page and not in this book; Per the author: Most of the books in the Kindled series can be effectively read as standalones, but Sanctuary is a book best read after the previous one. You’ll lose a lot of the emotional power if you jump into it out of context. While you certainly don’t need to start from the beginning of the series, I recommend you at least read Citadel before reading this one. Sanctuary also features main characters with the most traumatic backgrounds in the series. Both Breanna and Aidan have gone through a lot. Last Light and the Kindled series have always included violence, death, and sexual assault as part of the backdrop of the post-apocalyptic world, but this book hits harder on those themes. Breanna was repeatedly sexually abused in the past. While those acts are explained as backstory, there is no on-page sexual assault in this book. Aidan’s family history is violent and traumatic—again, only explained after the fact and not shown on page. If you’ve already read Citadel, then Breanna’s history won’t be a surprise, but Aidan’s might be, and I thought I’d give an early warning about the book as a whole in case you’d prefer to avoid these themes. Sabella shows what she’s really made of even as she is forced down a road she never saw coming. I was barely breathing through it all and my heart ached for her in every way. Angelo learns some hard truths that shine a light so bright on his own actions that I thought he might shatter. And then the story unraveled into a darkness so black that I was clutching my kindle with both hands and could not look away.

Georgia was such a feisty fireball. She really had the gift of revenge although it never seemed to quite hit its mark which added a level of humor that had me grinning throughout most of the book. Dominic was her main target and I quickly fell in love with him because he found her just as amusing as I did.

This is a no to low angst read with not only a wonderful hero and heroine, but secondary characters that added to the laugh out loud moments. I’m looking forward to more from them.

I really love the town and the quirky residents that live there. Ethan surprised me this time around as the author showed me what he was really made of and what caused him to make the decisions he did. I absolutely loved Darby. She was what I wish I could be. She embraced all her desires and didn’t let others dictate her actions. Her love of all things vintage totally won me over.
While there were a lot of times this couple’s relationship was not the sole focus of the story, when they were together they set my kindle on fire. This was a fast paced story that was relatively low angst with just a bump here and there to keep me questioning how things were going to work out.

Theo was such a great heroine. She’s highly relatable and I loved that she started the little battle between her and Axel. I could totally see myself doing some of the things she did. Her disconnect from the holidays and Axel’s responding actions was heartwarming and the perfect thing to add to the overall holiday charm of this book.
Axel was absolutely gobsmackingly delicious! I couldn’t have dreamed of a more perfect hero for a holiday story. And having read all of this author’s previous works, I couldn’t help but place Axel in the small god category.

From the very beginning this story pulled me in and I was wrapped in all the feels of the Chicago winter. There was lots of engaging banter that had me smiling, the angst was low, and there was just enough steam to keep my cocoa warm.

This story caught my attention from the first page and I could not put it down! The background the Wildbloods and Delacroix shared had me transfixed. I needed all the answers to my questions but before I knew it, I was caught up in the fiery relationship developing between Azrael and Willow and I found myself with new questions, some strong suspicions and a whole new obsession.
Willow not only won my heart but she has claimed Azrael’s as well with her sassy attitude and her outlook at life. I loved how she faced her situation head on as well as her sweet nature with her sisters and Bec.
Azrael is following his destiny and yet he carries a certain attitude that leaves me wondering where exactly he stands in the middle of this wild mystery. He’s a strong alpha male hero and I absolutely LOVE his ownership over Willow. The chemistry between them is like quicksilver and neither of them can fight it.
This is a fast read with lightning quick action that keeps the story moving. It has a strong angsty pull to it making me wonder when things are all going to fall apart and then I realize it’s all happening with one heck of a cliffhanger. This is an awesome enemies-to-lovers story and I can’t wait for its conclusion!

Violet and Eli were competitors at everything since the first day of kindergarten. When graduation takes Eli in one direction and Violet’s plans take a serious detour, they each live their life with what they’ve been dealt. But with Eli’s return to town and the fact he’s now her co-worker, the competition is on again.
”Besides, dear God, Violet is pretty when she’s mad. She’s pretty all the time, but anger sparks something in her eyes that makes her light up like a human flame, burning and flickering from the inside, dangerous and alluring all at once.”
This couple were so cute despite their constant bickering. As the story progresses, the arguments change into a fun, flirty banter that I loved. The chemistry between these two absolutely sizzles and the gradual change from enemies to lovers to more was wonderful. There really isn’t a lot of drama here, and what we are given is relatively low angst. I loved how things worked out for them and the epilogue was perfect. I know we’ll be seeing more of Eli and Violet as we get more of the Loveless boys and I cannot wait!

While we didn’t get Gunther’s point of view or really know for sure what he was thinking or feeling, Honey never kept us guessing. She was such a fun heroine with her constant need for a better bargain and her abhorrence at the thought of blood, much less the sight of it. I loved everything about her, including Bunny, her cat that quite possibly could be a serial killer.

This is a fun, fast read. It kept me engaged from the first page and I literally could not put it down until the end. I loved Selene! She’s the type of heroine I can totally get behind. Strong, confident and feisty, she’s also struggling due to an issue with her magic. I was constantly worrying about her each time she cast a spell. I wanted to mother her into reconsidering when she used it. I couldn’t help but try to predict what was going to happen next in the story and each time I was completely wrong. She’s definitely a unique heroine.
Memnon gave me shivers. He was a dark and dangerous presence before he was fully embodied and looking for revenge. Built like a dark god and with immense power, he’s a force to be reckoned with. There was no way Selene could hold her own against him. He really knows how to woo a girl though, despite her determination to keep him away. He kept me on edge as to what his next actions were going to be.
This is layered with so many smaller storylines that pulled me in and kept me engaged. I loved all the mystery, the uncertainty, and the overall feel of impending doom that effortlessly flowed through the story. It’s a longer book but was over way too fast and ended with a cliffhanger, dang it! How did I not know that? Nevertheless, I’m in it for the duration!

I really enjoyed the antagonism between Livvy and Gareth. She was fighting him every step of the way and he was just biding his time. With a dark, mystique surrounding him, I couldn’t help but be pulled into his story. Waiting to learn his backstory was agony and once it was revealed, dear lord, no wonder there is a sense of darkness around him.
Gareth was intense in his desire for Livvy. He wasn’t as forward in his “mine” mentality as Alpha was, but he had some serious mojo to back his emotions up. What they shared was not the stuff of fairy tales, it was emotional, deep, lusty, and forever. I loved what they had together.
While there were still some fun moments between the sisters as well as their significant others, I personally felt this lacked the initial spark of humor that were found earlier in the previous books. This felt a bit darker. But then, Gareth is a Grim and once you get to know him, it’s obvious why there’s a heavier feel to this story.

I loved that Rafe drove Julianna crazy simply by being in her orbit. His attitude towards her determined that she was going to stay far away, emotionally, even if she couldn’t distance herself physically.. This was so much like the little boy that dunks the girl’s hair in the inkwell. We all know what he’s really saying. Without ever having Rafe’s point of view, it was obvious what he felt. That made this all the more exciting.
The house party atmosphere was wonderful as it gave the activities a feel of another time and place without losing the contemporary attitude of the characters. Watching Rafe and Julianna deal with meddling grandmothers as well as their own feelings was pure perfection. When you add in the Christmas cheer, this made for a fun, smexy way to start my own holidays.

Alice was definitely not the type of heroine I’m used to reading, and I was both worried and excited by that. She kept me guessing from the very beginning and I was anxious to learn all her deep, dark, secrets. I was soon caught up in her spell along with Saint. She was fierce, determined, and certainly not the type of heroine that is waiting to be rescued.
While Alice was not the typical heroine, Saint was the perfect counterpoint to her. He was everything that I love, protective and possessive and he was determined to find the truth about her and make her pay the price. I loved the transition that took place with both of these characters.
The chemistry between Saint and Alice was white-hot and their story thrilled me, keeping me turning pages, anxious and guessing, until the very end which satisfied my romance loving heart. This is romantic suspense at its best and the reason I read it!

Kayla’s story was kept hidden for a good portion of the book which had me itching with anticipation to learn what exactly it was. I love when this happens, especially when written in a way that is subtle and intricately woven into the story such as this.
She had an immediate dislike of Aidan making this an enemy to lovers trope that had me sitting up with excitement. The chemistry between them was explosive in every way! This was filled with white hot scenes that brought in all kinds of activities that will have you salivating. Aidan is one filthy, dirty talker and he’s absolutely the hottest hero I’ve read in a very long time.
This is definitely one of those books that you need to go in as blind as possible. Other than what I’ve shared above, the rest of the story and how things take a turn should not be revealed until you're reading it or you’ll lose that “Oh My Gawd!” moment(s) that are so worth the secrecy. That being said, I’m ending my review here other than to say it is freaking amazing and as the author has stated, it has a happy ever after, it just looks different but it’s still an authentic HEA.

Betty was a bit of a grump, but only when it came to Bennett. I loved that she gave him such a hard time although it was all to cover up that flash of desire she felt each time she saw him. Ms. Cross developed Betty in such a way that she very well could be my coworker at school. I loved her attention to her students and the way she worked to not only make it fun, but that also took care of them if needed.

I loved how Bennett seemed to push Betty’s buttons just to get a reaction out of her. Her grumpy responses made him smile while making me laugh. There was a bit of conflict for him that trickled a little through the last part of the story, but the angst was pretty low regarding it. I was completely in love with him as he found himself feeling jealous and possessive of Betty. It was the perfect mix without being over the top and, sigh, it was the icing on this delicious story.

This has a community full of characters that were fun, sometimes annoying, hilarious, or wonderfully supportive and I found myself hoping to get more from them in the future. And that doesn’t include the four legged kind that added so much warmth and humor, not to say a personal revelation for one of our characters. Add in the intense heat between Betty and Bennett and I’m just ready for more of Beauville!

This is an angsty read with a lot of drama between this couple. Leon definitely has the darker, anti-hero flair going on here. Some of his actions hurt my heart even as they hurt Violet and yet I still liked him despite his actions. He was dealing with his own emotions and that went a long way to redeeming his behavior.
Violet was stuck in a position that limited her ability to do more than what was laid out before her. However, the way she reacted to some of Leon’s actions is exactly what was needed and I loved that those reactions affected him.

This was a lengthier read compared to the first book and it moves from the dissension between Leon and Violet to a place where they are at least communicating and working towards something more stable. The journey is the story until the end when there is a bit of conflict and additional drama to stir the pot. The true test is how they respond to their new issues. I loved them even more at that point.

The chemistry between Leon and Violet was absolutely nuclear and required the use of a personal fan to cool me down. Characters from the previous books make an appearance and also add a touch of humor. Overall, a great conclusion to this duet.
