This was a book of fluffy goodness with Carriger's trademark whimsical writing style. I think I say that in ALL my reviews of her books lol b3.5 stars

Dimity and Crispin have a bit of antagonistic relationship but when assigned to a job of investigating a hive of vampires gone goth, you see that the spy aka: the Honey Bee and her protector - Crispin, are wildly attracted to each other but awkward in how to express it.
They infiltrate the hive by going undercover as a married couple, posing as artists, where Dimity ends up performing a makeover of both the hive and their dwelling in an attempt to draw out the Queen. But they're on a deadline. If she can't find out what's wrong and resolve it they (the hive) will be exterminated.
What follows is part HGTV, part Queer Eye, and part spy novel with a dash of romance and sexual awakening. To be honest, there isn't a whole lot of meat to this story & I could nitpick but if you're looking for a lighter, silly (in a good way) read with a cast of soft characters looking for and getting their HEA's then this is a cute one to pass the the #stayathome time.
*Dimity is a character from Carriger's Parasolverse spin off YA Finishing School series. I had only read the first book and don't remember Dimity but this book stood on it's own just fine. Although I'm sure I would have gotten more out of it. But there are a few appearances by characters from the Parasol Protectorate series that I did enjoy seeing again.

Bailey is refreshingly upfront and honest, while Jake is more reserved but still kind.
Jake's fears for his *son* felt out of proportion and overblown which got a little old & there were quite a few typos/editing issues but not bad for a quick, sexy read....more

And it's funny to me how this story made so many people hate Locke (even more). I don't like him - at all. But how is he really different from Cardan or the other fae? They do cruel things. And I felt like he is being completely honest with Taryn. He is telling her exactly what he's doing. She just wants a certain outcome or thinks she can out maneuver the fae. Same as what Jude is doing.
It didn't change my opinion of anyone - still don't like the fae or sympathize with Taryn more.
But then I never trust ANYONE in fae stories lol...more

Luke was sufficiently growly and possessive of his new found mate but he was also sweet, tender, and respectful of her feelings. He was too darn cute for words.
And Chas was tough, kind and intelligent.
Really well done! (as usual with this author) ...more

I had a few quibbles (view spoiler)[I wish we got to hear from Finn a bit more. Even in his own POV - he didn't always express to the reader exactly what he was feeling or doing - with Liz in particular - which leads to me to the other thing I didn't love. I wish Malcolm picked a different person for Finn to date. She's a single mom and Miles friend which just added an extra layer of callousness for all involved. To be fair - Finn acknowledges this and owns up to it but we never see how it pans out. Is Liz upset? Is she still friends with Miles? She just got engaged after 2 days of meeting someone new? Seemed like an easy way out to wrap-up that thread but I would have liked to see how Finn handled it and how it effected her & Miles friendship. It also made her come off like a flake. (hide spoiler)]
But those are so minor - this is a really fast read and I adored both men and their path to a HEA. A MUCH deserved HEA. And oh! I also LOVED Finn's brother Sean. So sweet! ...more
