This was exactly what I needed. Lots and lots of sugar. A
small, clumsy man, getting swept off his feet by a big possessive alpha male. This could have been a shifter book, but without the shifters. Lots of growling and MINE MINE MINE. Insta-love to the max. It was absolutely wonderful.
Lany is a 25 year old small guy who keeps getting into trouble. When he is getting beaten up in the bathroom of a bar one night, he is releaved when a big man comes to his rescue.
Lany is not used to people actually wanting him around, so he is surprised and thinks this man is crazy when his rescuer lets him know he wants to date Lany and isn’t planning on letting him go, ever.
Sal Delvecchio knows this adorable man is his as soon as he lays eyes on him. He has been waiting his entire life to find someone to hold his interest and now that he’s found him, Sal is not letting him go…
I LOVE LOVE LOVED Lany. He was one of the most adorable characters I’ve ever read about.
“How did you keep crashing your car?” “Well, it wasn’t easy, let me tell you. I tried as hard as I could, but no matter how much I concentrated, things just seem to jump out at me.” “At your car?” I nodded. “Things like?” “Garbage cans, mailboxes, buildings.” I frowned as I went down the list of things I had crashed into over the years. “There was an elephant once, but I don’t think that counts because he hit me.”
And Sal was just the perfect man (and keeper) for Lany. There were growls, there was a lot of MINE, there were hot sexy times and lots of hurt/comfort.
I absolutely loved this book. Is it cheesy? Yes, definitely. It’s Stormy Glenn, so fans of hers know what to expect (although I have to admit that this book actually has way more of a plot than her other books).
I do think that this book will be too cheesy, too OTT insta-lovey for most of my GR friends, but this hit all of my happy buttons, so I loved it anyway.
This ends in a HEA, but I do feel as if their relationship just got started, so I’m looking forward to the rest of the books about these sweet men.

I would have been completely happy with the robot turning sentient and having a romantic relationship angle.
SPOILERS AHEAD
But we got the robot thing. Then Quincy trying to deal with all his new feelings. And of course the romance between Evan and Quincy.
But we also got the whole D/s angle, which I thought didn't fit the romance. And then we also got Quincy wearing make up and try making make up tutorials, trying out lacy lingerie and the figuring out his gender identity. We also got the (view spoiler)[attack on Quincy (hide spoiler)].
Any of these things would have been enough for me, but all of this together made it a bit much....more

I really liked this!
I was even hesitating to give it 5 stars, but in the end there were two things that bothered me a bit, so 4 stars it is.
I really loved the slow burn in this. And the whole reaper took over a body... yes please! Dawson was a really likable person, even if he was waaaay to good to Cal at first. And Cal was adorable. Reaper Cal that is, not the real Cal, who was a dick.
But it did drag a bit in the middle, and I was disappointed when the truth was revealed. It felt rushed and not fleshed out enough to me. Since the rest of the book was so detailed, I was kind of hoping for something... more, I guess....more

I feel a bit conflicted about this one.
After 20% I even contemplated quitting, because I had a hard time liking Riley.
I do have to admit that things started to change when Riley adopted Larry. How can I dislike someone who wants a guide dog, but ends up with the ugly stray who failed all the guide dog tests?
After that things were looking up and I really started to enjoy it. The romance was sweet, and I was happy there was no gay freakout for Riley.
But then… (view spoiler)[the break-up (hide spoiler)] happened. I’m really not a fan of this type of drama. I also really dislike an MC thinking (view spoiler)[ he would never be good enough for the other person (hide spoiler)]. I mean, there is no real solution there. Except therapy, lots and lots of therapy.
So while I could understand where Harper was coming from, it felt a bit too sudden for me to really believe in it.
But I was glad to see it all resolved eventually.
So I enjoyed it for the most part, and I’m going with 3.5 stars, but I’m rounding it down… ...more

But for some reason April Jade decided to make this book extra flowery. It felt out of place and just didn't quite fit the story.
I also had a bit of a problem with Roman being the school counselor and Sebastian being a student/his patient. If felt strange that Roman immediately wanted Sebastian and crossed the line without any inner struggles. I would at least expect him to think it was wrong.
But besides all that this wasn't a complete disaster. It had good bones and the hurt/comfort kept me interested.
Is the writing captivating? Absolutely. Did I read it in one sitting? Yes I did. Did I like how this made me feel? Not one bit.
Let me first say that thiIs the writing captivating? Absolutely. Did I read it in one sitting? Yes I did. Did I like how this made me feel? Not one bit.
Let me first say that this is not a bad book at all. I think lots of readers will find this an emotional and captivating read. It just made me feel like shit and I that’s how I rate my books.
This was filled with angst from beginning to end. These guys did not have an easy life. Especially Regan. And somewhere halfway it dawned on me that this is just the way this author writes.
Now I get how this will appeal to many readers, I was just missing a more positive note. I can handle angst in books just fine if there is a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel. Or if one of the characters is down on his luck, but the love interest is there to make things better (not as a cure, but as a way to become more actively involved in their own happiness). But here I felt like both these guys were not completely stable enough to support the other one.
But don’t let my review deter anyone from reading this. I just didn't enjoy this myself....more

What I loved about this was that it was clear Logan was struggling so much that he needed rescuing. I couldn’t wait for Caleb to step up and provide the Daddy comfort.
Logan was trying so hard to just survive and make it through his last year in school that my heart broke for him. His mom was abusive and she had an asshole boyfriend as well.
I loved when Logan got appointed a tutor for chemistry. Quiet, intelligent, BIG Caleb Heath. I was hoping he would be the perfect Daddy for Logan, even though they were both only 19. I was willing to overlook this and simply go with it.
But while I loved reading about Logan’s shitty life in the first half, I couldn’t wait til Caleb would make it all better. And here was when the pacing started to feel off.
The first half we get to know Logan, and Caleb as his tutor. We see Logan struggling and we see how hard it as at home. But the second half was basically one scene. A few hours at most. And I wanted them to get past the initial ‘OMG I’m kinky’ stage. But since we never moved on from that afternoon we never got there.
I know there is a second book and I’m all for that. But to have the first half cover months (weeks?) and the second half cover only hours, made my brain hurt. It also made it feel like these guys moved waaaaay too fast in one afternoon.
Now that sounds like I didn’t enjoy it while I really did. But this is one of those books that needs the second book to make sense. And depending on this, I might change my rating of this book. ...more
I keep reading this series, because every book has this potential. But somehow I never really get into the story and the characters.
There were also soI keep reading this series, because every book has this potential. But somehow I never really get into the story and the characters.
There were also some strange sentences and the conversations felt a bit off at times (“You can go after you tell me I’m pretty.” Why would any man ever say that to their potential boyfriend in a serious matter when there is no hurt/comfort trauma to back that statement up so it makes more sence??)
Also Cassidy told Levi about knowing his father and grandfather died twice. Both times Levi acted surprised and asked how he knew that…
There is also a lot of inner monologue in these books. I skimmed pages and pages of thought and thought and more thoughts.
So while the premise keeps drawing me in and there is so much potential in these books, they keep falling a bit flat for me....more

I liked the bond these kraken brothers seemed to have in the first book. But somehow it didn’t seem so wonderful in this book.
Apparently Victor never quite felt like he fit, but there wasn’t enough explanation as to why that was exactly.
Also, I’ve read a lot of mpreg books and I’m not easily weirded out by stuff. But this birth (Danik from the first book got pregnant) was super gross and weird. I didn’t like it at all.
I thought I would be overjoyed since this book was about Azim, one of the kidnapping victims, but not even the hurt/comfort could save this book for me.
I’m not sure I will read the other book when they come out....more

In this Alois is finally back from his mission to save Wyatt Morrick and will finally be reunited with Sebastian, his mate.
Sebastian, whose parents sold him when he was 17 and who got pregnant by one of the men who used him, since he was forced to be the Wednesday night plaything.
But now that Alois found Sebastian, he is determined to shower Sebastian and baby Nina with so much love that Sebastian won’t know what hit him.
But there is also the search for the rest of the element creatures that have taken over innocent bodies. They already defeated Water, and luckily Death is on their side (since Death took over the body of Verion Morrick, Wyatt’s father, who still loves his son very much). But now they need to find Fire, who has been bound to the evil Queen, but is basically innocent. And Air, who enjoys killing people way too much.
Together the people of Charybdis Station need to find a way to do all of this. Luckily Sebastian recently found out he is a shaman with magical powers…
There are so many characters in these books. And normally I would be put off by that, but not here. I love all of them. They got introduced in such a way that I can still keep everyone apart. And I never felt that they all blended together (as I’ve seen in other books, where everyone seems to be like the other).
I have to mention the animals in this. I absolutely LOVE pets in books, and we got some awesome ones here. I have to mention Princess Buttercup again. The dragon who can change size and can either be a small dragon who likes to sit on Leti’s shoulder, or he can be 15 feet long (yes, Princess Buttercup is a HE) and can be the most terrifying soldier of Charybdis Station who can decimate the enemy in less than a minute.
There are puppies, cats, dragons, and a large variety of other animals. Oh, and let’s not forget Mustachio, Sebastian’s bird! I loved that a bunch of them joined the fights and were pretty fierce!
Of course these books are sweeter than sweet, and if you like asshole men, do not read this series.
I’m hooked now and I’m so happy there are 3 book in this series left and 2 of the spinoff (yay, for Death and yay for Fire!!). ...more

Now there’s not always enough focus on the relationship in these books, and I’ve accepted that, but here I never quite felt the romance between Beck and Beol.
Sure, they were cute and sweet, but I wasn’t quite as into them as I was with the other couples.
There is a big fight scene near the end that was pretty spectacular though. I absolutely loved seeing all the different powers people have, flying bots, jumping boots, and fierce dragons (well, it was only one, but Princess Buttercup counts for 10).
I also adore Fire, and Death isn’t too bad either. Fire is absolutely adorable though. I can’t wait for his book.
And we also meet Air. I was even pleasantly surprised by him/her.
But I did feel as if this book was a bit too full. So many things happening all the time, it was a bit exhausting.
So even though I’m settling for 3 stars, I still really like the series and can’t wait to read the other books. ...more
