Did she leave home willingly, or is there someone or something that's preventing her return? Author Wanda E. Brunstetter shares Rosa Petersheim's intriguing story in the first book of a new series, and her writing skills have never been more evident. The character development is excellent and the portrayed emotions are spot on!
The Protector is set in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania in the Amish community of Belleville so the suggestion that Rosa may have willingly left her Amish community presents an intriguing dilemma. Will this community support the Petersheims or will they be censored? We're reminded that tragedy and loss are universal, surface emotions are often misleading, and none of us can truly understand another person's feelings. Families can be strengthened, or they can be destroyed by stress and grief!
This well-written book kept me fully engaged with its romance, mystery, and inspiring message of faith. I recommend The Protector to all who enjoy Amish fiction, and I look forward to the next Mifflin County Mystery!

By Evening's Light is a captivating dual-time book that's set in both present-day Lancaster County and in Germany during 1948 & 1949. Treva Zimmerman's decision to leave the Plain lifestyle sends her back to visit her family in Lancaster County but hearing the memories of her great-aunt's time in Germany may alter her plans once again! Who would have guessed that an Amish girl could have done so much and loved so deeply?
I love how author Leslie Gould connects the two timelines by sharing Rosene's account of her time in post-WWII Germany. Gould flawlessly weaves historical details into a remarkable tale that's filled with adventure, danger, and romance. She reveals in her author's notes that both Red Cross workers and mission workers were known to have been involved in espionage activities. This is why I love historical fiction so much: I always learn something I didn't know!
This engaging story of faith, resilience, and second chances affirms how the past impacts the future. I highly recommend By Evening's Light to all who enjoy historical Christian romance.

Rebecca's Amish Heart Restored is the second book in The Amish Women of Lawrence County series, and the ending left me eager to learn what else is brewing in Lawrence County. Is Rebecca's heart truly restored? Will she finally believe that she deserves to be happy, and can she be an example for others?
The third story, Anna's Amish Fears Revealed, is a touching story that kept me totally immersed in the realistic conflicts and memorable characters. Anna's belief that she may never have a family, Simon's struggle with a hidden secret, and a powerful faith message make this a story that I won't soon forget. Anna's Amish Fears Revealed is an excellent addition to the Amish Women of Lawrence County series and I recommend it to all who enjoy Amish fiction.

Yes, there are Amish characters, but the primary focus is on an Englisch human trafficking ring in Montana. Alford shares a gritty, eye-opening story that shows how easy it is to be drawn into this world of evil and how difficult it is to escape. Elizabeth Wyse was an innocent eighteen-year-old Amish girl until she placed her trust in the wrong person, and her life was turned into an unending cycle of pain and abuse.
Ambush in the Mountains tackles an important subject and Alford poignantly conveys the many emotions involved! I felt the fear, guilt, and helplessness of the young woman now known as Summer, and I was both horrified and disgusted by the abuse experienced by her and other victims of this crime. This is an exciting story that's filled with unending danger, heart-pounding suspense, and intense emotions, and it's one that I won't soon forget.
Memorable characters, a suspense-filled plot, and a powerful message of hope and faith make this one of Alford's best books yet. I recommend it to all who enjoy romantic Christian suspense!

She has her family, her sweet calico cat Hope, and her supportive Amish community but best of all, she's assured that "if God wills it, she will do it." Until...the new Mennonite doctor in Willow's Creek challenges her to believe in a future that she's never dreamed possible!
This is a heartwarming story of daring to dream while staying true to your beliefs. Author Anne Blackburne introduced Mary in a previous book but this allows readers to learn more about her sweet nature and her unswerving faith. She may have resigned herself to never being a wife or mother but It doesn't take long for her to recognize just how special Dr. Reuben King is or to realize that she's thinking about him more than she should! He's perfect husband material except for the fact that he's a Mennonite man and she's a baptized Amish woman! Their different beliefs make it impossible for their romance to develop. Unless...God's will makes it so!
If you enjoy Amish fiction that's filled with family devotion, deep abiding faith, intriguing characters, and beloved feline pets, grab a copy of Mary's Calico Hope. It's a great addition to the series, The Heart of the Amish.

I loved watching Tabitha blossom under Seth's efforts to help her, and I was equally touched by Seth's longtime crush on his former teacher and his determination to protect her when her ex-husband reappears. Author Shelley Shepard Gray proves that she is capable of writing in almost every genre as she shares their compelling story that's set in Crittenden County, Kentucky. I was moved by the special connection between Tabitha and Seth, fascinated by the added dynamics provided by the other characters, and completely invested in the continuing drama!
Unforgiven is a story of damaged trust, unreasonable judgments, and the inability to forgive. It is a captivating blend of romance, suspense, and faith, and it offers many profound truths while asking one powerful question. Why is it easier to forgive others than it is to forgive ourselves?

Who wouldn't love a reunion with the Beiler and Weaver families in their small Amish community and jump at the chance to learn more about the special connection between Cassie Weaver and Martin Beiler? How could we not appreciate a young woman who has a unique understanding of a man dealing with autism, and why wouldn't we cheer when their lifelong friendship appears to be taking a new direction? Yes, this return visit to Promise was definitely worth taking!

Practice makes perfect and this is a prime example. Mindy Steele's twelfth book is a captivating Amish story with a middle-aged midwife who believes in the healing power of herbs and a widowed Amish bishop VERY set in his ways. Dok Stella is resigned to never having her own family and Simon Graber carries grief like a mantle! How could they ever envision a relationship...together?
This may be labeled Amish fiction but it certainly isn't cookie-cutter Amish fiction. Courting an Amish Bishop reminds us that while the Amish aren't immune to problems, their pain is often hidden; they may not wear their hearts on their sleeves, but those hearts still love deeply. This poignant story shows us that love has no age limitations, second chances are possible, and healing can be found in unusual places and unorthodox ways. Grab a copy of Courting an Amish Bishop and be prepared to lose yourself in Cherry Grove and Walnut Ridge, Kentucky!

It is an intriguing story of love, acceptance, forgiveness, and finally, redemption. Letters are still being exchanged between three longtime friendThis third book in The Friendship Letters series is a memorable way to end the series. Letters are still being exchanged between three longtime friends but Irma's letters to Doretta have become cries for help. Memories of the physical and emotional abuse that she'd hidden since childhood threaten to destroy the life she's built with her husband and three young children. How does an Amish woman admit that she's repeating the same abusive actions that have haunted her for years?
Letters of Wisdom is an enlightening story about the long-lasting effects endured by the victims of abuse. I realize that it could be an emotional trigger for some readers, but author Wanda E. Brunstetter is never graphic in her depiction of these actions. She reminds us that abuse can be passed from generation to generation and that counseling is often needed to break the cycle. Irma's story illustrates that hurt and resentment can turn to hatred if allowed to fester, and it reinforces the need for compassion, forgiveness, and healing that can only come through faith and prayer. I was deeply touched by this story, and I applaud Brunstetter for her willingness to tackle this subject!

The Amish Christmas Promise is an emotional story that tugged at my heartstrings and reminded me of the power of faith and forgiveness. Mattie and Samuel's growing awareness of each other is both sweet and tantalizing but there is one enormous hurdle to overcome. Is the shunned Samuel willing to ask for forgiveness from his Amish community?
This is Lillard's first Harlequin title but I'm sure it won't be her last! This book has endearing characters, an Amish Christmas setting, and an inspiring faith message! I highly recommend The Amish Christmas Promise to all who enjoy Amish Christian romance.

Readers are reunited with characters from the previous books and given the chance to know one of them even better. Oh, how I loved Lilly Kurtz! She is sweet, thoughtful, and giving, and so painfully aware that she is adopted. Thankfully, she has old friends who value her worth, and two new friends who recognize just how special she is. Eddie Byler and his grandmother November are both gems and I loved the respect and support that they offer Lilly, something that has been lacking in Lilly's relationship with her parents. I must say that I had a hard time liking Fran and Gabe Kurtz, but author Shelley Shepard Gray is able to redeem them in my eyes. More proof that she has a unique talent for placing fallible characters in everyday situations and making them likable and believable!
A Season in Pinecraft has been an enjoyable series and Her Secret Hope may be my favorite of the three books. It has sweet romance, characters that I would enjoy knowing, and a setting that I would love to visit one day! I recommend this book to all who enjoy contemporary Amish romance.

Lynn's newest book begins with two simple sentences, but they speak volumes about the story ahead! It is a thrilling roller coaster ride of both actions and emotions. The Bender family is featured again but this time Isaiah Bender is the center of attention, and he may be the most complicated member yet. He's strong, brave, and moral to the core. He may have left the Amish way of life, but he still maintains their values; he doesn't want to live Amish but there's a big part of him that longs to go home!
Hunted at Christmas has romance, suspense, and an inspiring faith message woven into its very exciting plot. Two things stood out to me: there's a scene that perfectly describes what I felt when I first saw the cover. Imagine the fear of a frozen pond and crackling ice! I also loved Isaiah's return to his family home. Prodigal son, indeed!

Let me tell you, I wasn't disappointed! Under the Blue Skies has everything that I enjoy: realistic characters, a beautiful setting, and a story that kept me turning the pages. Thomas Smucker wants a new lease on life, his orphaned niece Emily grieves for her mother, and Lovina Graber yearns for a family that she'll never have. These people with different crosses to bear find each other in West Kootenai but can they overcome their doubts and misconceptions?

There are often life truths tucked into the pages, inspiring faith threads woven into the stories, and many chances to learn. This book has all of these! Lost and Found is a thought-provoking story with intriguing characters and a well-developed plot that centers on a conflict in faith. I enjoyed the promising romance between two avid birdwatchers but much of the story focuses on an Amish family dealing with mental illness and an Amish bishop's efforts to do what is best for his people. Should the church of Stoney Ridge relocate? Will a more liberal Amish group, the Beachy Amish, succeed in dividing this Stoney Ridge community?
This compelling story by Suzanne Woods Fisher reminds us that things aren't always as they seem and secrets can be found in all groups of people. I recommend Lost and Found to all who enjoy contemporary Amish fiction.
