There is something about small town romance that I always finding charming, sweet, and touching. And in Lia Riley's third installment to The Brightwater Series, Ms. Riley enchants her readers to a fairy-tale love story with a modern twist to the beloved classic, Beauty and the Beast.
Wilder Kane is your grumpy alpha hero who had to leave his career behind after a tragic accident. Now back home in his hometown of Brightwater, California, Wilder is not exactly your friendly neighbor that is until he meets Quinn Higbsy. Slowly, our sweet heroine was able to draw out this stubborn man back into society. Slowly, the walls that have surrounded Wilder Kane soon begins to crumble when he allows Quinn into his life. Can Quinn show this perfectly imperfect man that he is not broken at all?
I adored this sweet, charming and touching small town romance book. The Best Worst Mistake is my favorite of the series. I have always been drawn to flawed broken heroes and Lia Riley did an amazing job showcasing that behind all the facade, Wilder Kane is a good, honest, and beautiful man. So if you are looking for a book that is a great reminder that true love is about loving and accepting all your imperfections then the Best Worst Mistake is the book for you. Also, sometimes the best worst mistakes make the best kind of stories so be prepared to fall in love with Quinn as she tames her own beast, Wilder.
"I was still falling at unstoppable speeds- only in his arms, as his body claimed me without a single word spoken, I was suddenly falling....up"
Aly Martinez... If you wanted me to fall, then you have succeeded. I have indeed fallen. Fallen in love with your writing, stories, characters, and the raw emotions that you evoked through your words. And I will continue to fall for your books every single time. Aly's books has been somewhat an addiction for me. She never fails in delivering books that can grip you to the core, strip you naked and make you FEEL. And in her newest standalone, The Fall Up, Aly Martinez DELIVERED. She more than delivered. She held me HOSTAGE as she drowned me in one of the most heartfelt, beautiful, touching stories that I have read.
"No words were exchanged. Everything had been said as we both came on the gasp of the other's name. I'd claimed her. And, in turn, she owned me. It was almost as exhilarating as it was terrifying. Almost."
The Fall Up is truly one of those reads that you want to savor and re-read again. In this spellbinding tale, Aly perfectly weaves a romance like no other. A romance that was palpable and tangible right from the start when two strangers meet on the ledge of a bridge. An unconventional meeting of two broken people. A young woman who is lost in her guilt, pain, and loss. And a man who feels the need to help with his Spiderman complex.
"She wasn't the princess. And I wasn't the pauper. She was just a sad girl who liked to write songs. And I was nothing more than a simple guy who was lucky enough to have made her fall in love with him."
On a cold rainy night in San Francisco, Levee Williams meets a tattooed stranger, who saves her. Saves her from taking that jump. The jump to end it all. When Sam interrupts Levee from these thoughts to jump, he saves her in more ways than he knows. Whenever he sees Sam on the bridge, he continues to disrupt her and forms a special friendship with her. When Levee finally takes Sam offer to get a late night snack, she finally lets her guard down. As Sam learns of her true identity as Levee Williams, the pop star celebrity, he doesn't seem faze of her celebrity status. All he sees is Levee. Levee, the beautiful brown eye girl who stole his heart the moment he laid eyes on her. The girl who has bewitched him with her beauty, honesty, witty personality and vulnerability.
"Levee, I'll tell you anything you want to know as long as it means you're with me to keep asking."
As Sam and Levee embark on a relationship, a connection is formed. A deep raw tangible bond where there are not enough words to describe this connection they feel for another. A connection of peace, of hope, of love, and new beginnings. As they continue to fall for each other, Levee must face with the realization of the truth. The truth that she needs help. If she wants any chance to have a real relationship with Sam, Levee goes to a rehab facility to help deal with her anxiety and depression. As Levee undergoes her treatment, will it be enough to keep her off the ledge? Will she let her issues prevent her from truly living her life and the possible chance at love? Or will she find herself falling in love with Sam Rivers?
"Hell, I could probably pretend for the rest of my life if he continued to hold me the way he did. Kiss me the way he did. Touch me the way he did. Save me the way he did."
The Fall Up has to be one of my favorite books that Aly has written. Aly has once again perfectly weaved an emotional and heartfelt story-line with witty humor and of course sexy steamy scenes. This book is definitely a book that needs to be read, experienced, and savored. I loved every aspect of this book from the raw and flawed characters to the emotional heartstrings that can tug your heart. As I stated earlier in my review, Aly Martinez will hold your hearts and attention hostage. She will grip you with a love story that will leave you breathless. A story that will make you want a real life Sam Rivers to catch your fall. So if you are looking for a book where the author tackles an important issue in such a deep and profound way, you NEED to READ this book.
As readers we often read books to escape the daily grind of our busy lives. And when we read romance novels, we are taken to place where we can escape and read a modern sexy version of fairytales whether it be prince charming, hot billionaire, bad boys, dominant alpha males, military heroes, bikers, and the list goes on... but if you really think about it, the realistic book boyfriends can be found in the simple sweet boy next door. And that book boyfriend is none other than Tessa Teevan's Jeremy Banks of Fusion.
I am a big big fan of Tessa and her alpha military heroes especially Knox Wellington. I thought there could be no one who can top him but I was wrong. JEREMY BANKS beats Knox hands down. Jeremy may not have the sexy smoldering appeal that we fell in love with Knox but he has the charisma, charm, humor, and heart of gold to steal your hearts. He is a man who can steal your heart and have you swooning with an "I love you." Jeremy Banks in not book boyfriend material...HE IS BOOK HUSBAND MATERIAL.
Jeremy Banks and his beautiful wife, Sierra were first introduced in Tessa Teevan's debut book, Ignite. In those few snippets of Jeremy and Sierra, I loved this couple. I remember messaging Tessa saying "OMG this couple is the cutest thing ever." And when she informed that she was finally going to write Jeremy and Sierra a book, I was over the moon ecstatic. Luckily, I was fortunate to beta read this couple and **ahem** bug Tessa for new updates on Fusion. And as I was reading weekly updates, this couple stole my heart. I was officially smitten with this couple. And I think Tessa can attest to that fact with our chat messages.
What made Fusion stood out for me, was how Tessa written and told their story. She made this book light, funny, raw, honest, playful and most importantly kept it true to Jeremy and Sierra's personality. I loved how Tessa didn't detract and kept the focused on them. This was indeed a story of growing up, falling in love, and staying in love. I'm not going to say this book is all hearts and flowers, but I will just say that Tessa Teevan was able to tug those emotional heartstrings that every relationship goes through from the good and bad.Tessa Teevan captured her readers hearts through her gorgeous prose and raw characters. If she wanted us to remember the Banks family, she did that and more.
The story of Jeremy and Sierra Banks was your feel good kind of book. The book that makes you believe what TRUE LOVE is all about. I loved getting swept away in their fairytale romance. Jeremy and Sierra were what you called your fated lovers and soul mates. From childhood best friends to lovers. I don't think I can do this book justice by rehashing and telling you what Fusion is about. But what I can tell you is that Tessa Teevan DELIVERED. She delivered a story that was sweet, raw, emotional, touching, playful, fun and sexy. She made readers fall in love with the boy who could have your hearts fluttering with his charming personality. This book made me laugh out loud, swooned, fall in love, and most importantly, it captured my heart. The reason why I fell in loved with the story was how real, fun, and raw this book was. Jeremy Banks may not be a super elite broody alpha male soldier, but instead he showed readers what it takes to fight for love through his words and actions. So if you are looking for a book that will holds your heart hostage, then be prepared to get spellbound in Tessa Teevan's phenomenal book, Fusion.
