Her uncle has passed away and now her aunt has cancer. Aunt Eleanor married into the Amish faith when she married and owns a quilting shop where Angie learned to quilt.
Aunt Eleanor has a request of Angie. One of the friends in her quilting group has passed away and Eleanor wants Angie to help figure out what happened when her friend's son died years ago. Maybe there is more to the situation than previously thought and an old quilt may have a clue.
This is a great way to meet the characters of the quilting group that meet in Aunt Eleanor's shop. I read the first book in the series before I read this novella and it was fine but it would probably be better to read this one first.

This is a great series with the friends who make up the Society group, four women from different walks of life, who have united in friendship and support for each other and others. This one hits close to home when Nora and the others are targeted by a hate crime. They are also brought together to solve a murder of a local man of Cherokee descent and then a second murder. This mystery is an interesting one to solve and goes back many years. I did not guess who committed the murder. Great setting, characters, and a little romance....more

We met five older adults who have moved to this small town in their retirement from a life of working with the CIA, four of whom worked as spies, one an analyst. But the past rears its ugly head to Maggie Bird when someone leaves a body in her drive and then tries to kill her. She, along with her friends, put their heads together to find answers. The story alternates between present day to twenty-four years ago in Bangkok. Suspenseful, action-packed, and nail biting with secrets and surprises, this will keep you engaged from beginning to end. Looking forward to the next in the series....more

I decided to order a couple for our grandchildren and am pleased with paperback version. I had planned to purchase the hardcover version, but it was not really available. The illustrations are very nice, and the book is very informative about the biblical meaning behind this traditional song. The true love refers to God and the partridge symbolizes Jesus Christ, and the pear tree, the cross. It goes on talking about the gifts that are given each of the twelve days by the "true love." Each day has a scripture reference to tie in with the gift. Wonderful book for a traditional reading each Christmas season. I highly recommend for families with children or just anyone. Thank you, Darla, for bringing this book to my attention. ...more

I have enjoyed other books by the author and really liked this one. I feel that it is a little heavier and more serious than the others that I have read but that is a good thing. With the death of her beloved father, Leila returns from Florida for his funeral but stays to run the family maple syrup farm which she inherits. She is determined to find his killer and there are several people to look into. I found this to be hard to put down with a great setting, interesting characters, both likable and relatable, and some not so likable, and a positive ending. I am looking forward to the next read. ...more

Dr Emilia McRoy, an ER doctor from Seattle, answered a request for the small village to escape bad memories and get a fresh start in a place where her DNA showed possible relatives. Her life becomes quite busy and bizarre after discovering the body of an older man who made a scene in a pub yelling at her. She also happens to be the coroner. Then the body disappeared from her facilities where she lives in an old church, complete with medical facilities and brand-new equipment, thanks to Ewan, the laird, mayor, and constable. This has a great mystery with interesting and likable characters, including someone who is out to get her before she solves the crime. I loved the setting and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series....more

I read them out of order, #1, #3, and then this one, #2, and it was fine but ideally would be better in order. Set in the Isles of Scilly off the coast of England in the early 1900's, we meet a group of friends and family set on searching for antiquities and treasures left behind by pirates and a prince. But it is a race to beat out other people with the same goal in mind. And these people can be dangerous for those who get in their way. Beth Tremayne and Lord Sheridan started off on the wrong foot, but their banter and ongoing dialogue is so funny and sweet as their relationship develops. And they both have a love of adventure that brings them together. I think their story may be my favorite of the series. Highly recommended for history lovers with suspense, romance, adventure, sprinkled with faith and great spiritual thoughts. ...more

There is so much to absorb in this emotional story of Claire and Stephen, all hurting from bad choices that make such an impact on lives as a stone thrown in a pool of water makes waves. Claire and Stephen are going through a difficult time because of a mistake Stephen made breaking their marriage vows. Claire has unresolved issues she hasn't faced but not to excuse Stephen by any means. Claire did not want to leave Denver, but Stephen accepted a position in Atlanta, bought a house sight unseen, and all without consulting Claire. But God used this antebellum house as a healing move for Claire as she discovers the life of Charlotte, former owner of the home. In a fit of anger, Claire hits a wall in her bedroom discovering a secret room and the life of Charlotte from 150 years ago. She read about Charlotte's life in the pages of her journal. Such pain and sadness are poured on the pages of her journal with the story of her dead beloved husband and five babies and her life with an abusive husband. Both women are going through such pain and hurt, and Charlotte's life and faith are touching to Claire and her new friend Bernice, with the local historian group. This story is so intertwined with the lives and experiences of characters touching each other with a sense that only God could have brought them all together for redemption, healing, and resolution. The is a rich story that is touching and memorable with so many great faith lessons to take away and wonderful secondary characters. Tamera Alexander captured the characters' emotions and feelings so very well. Well done! Lovely and highly recommended. I went back forth listening to the story and reading on my Kindle.
