The beginning of the book was drab to the most extreme, and then I started to skim. And when the ending came along, I expected this huge completly mind-boggling result... only to not get it. I'm sure my rating will increase after I have the chance to really talk with somebody about this book, but at the moment, it's so confusing and hard to untangle. Which makes me feel stupid.

There was also some stuff near the end that really blew my mind, and I liked how things came together.
However, I felt as if the characters were super flat, and I didn't quite get their motivations either. The plot moved pretty slow for a majority of the book as well. The romance was very meh. And ugh, that cliffhanger. That almost felt immature to me.
So yes, full review to come closer to the pub date, but I may just post an early bird review for this one. ...more
I am very sad that I didn't like this one more, to be honest. I was expecting a very moving read, but what I mainly got was frustration. The big event that was mentioned in the synopsis didn't even happen until there were 60 pages left, which left for a seriously rushed development.

Wavering between a 3.5 and a 4. The ending just barely brought it to a 4, I think, although I may change my mind.

Ah, disappointment. When rave reviews came out saying this one was better than the first (which I love, love, love), I knew from that moment on I would not like it more. And I was right. SO much of it was pretty slow, especially in the middle, and it focused so heavily on the romance. The ending was the redeeming factor (along with the beginning I suppose), and the ending was what I loved about the entire first book. Except it was just the last 20 pages of this one.
The ending is why this book didn't get a 2 stars, really.
I liked how this one had more of a plot than the last one, evidenced Actual Rating: 2.5 Stars

I liked how this one had more of a plot than the last one, evidenced by the last part of the book where we really got a central plot. However, the beginning was just Riley kind of aimlessly walking around and whatnot. Also, the romance/insta-love infuriated me, as did Riley. There were a few good plot twists though, but Riley's daftness kind of ruined them.
