Pride and Butterflies: 3*
Hilarious rom-com inspired by Pride and Prejudice. Enters, quite literally, with a crash and it kept me smirking a lot (when I did not laugh out loud). A highly entertaining, fast-paced and engaging read about PR consultant Caralyn, her bad day and multiple run-ins with Alex... At about 2/3rds the story shifts with Caralyn's thirtieth birthday. She behaved like she was a decade younger, occasionally throwing a tantrum worthy of a three-year-old... The heroine's commitmentphobia did eventually get annoying, it went on several turns too long and an otherwise entertaining read dropped from 4 stars to an average 3...
None But You: 4*
An engaging and funny, off canon contemporary variation of Persuasion. The latter was a new experience for me. This was a more light-hearted read, compared to the original. Mashed up with Emma who was Anna's best friend and roommate.
Emma's Match: 4.5*
A contemporary rom-com inspired by Jane Austen's Emma. Funny and engaging, off canon story. Emma had her own design company when Jillian Fairfax entered Charleston and stole all her clients. In addition, she overheard some unflattering remarks about herself that led Emma to create a list of self-improvement points that she muddled up one by one...
Anne Wentworth makes an appearance and I thought that the two friends were surprisingly well-matched in both None But You and Emma's Match. A creative and bold twist that I enjoyed a lot.

A sweet and funny read where Emma has a new project in the form of her "little" cousin Prudence. The daughter of Mr Wood Sequel to Jane Austen's Emma.
A sweet and funny read where Emma has a new project in the form of her "little" cousin Prudence. The daughter of Mr Woodhouse's sister, who was cast off when she married beneath her, has come to enjoy the London season under the watchful eye of her cousin Emma. This was first and foremost Prudence's story, there are little snippets of swoon-worthy moments between Emma and Mr Knightly but they are few and far between. In addition, there were many new characters from London's society of whom I liked aunt Mouser the most...
A little too circumvent to be really engaging. With so many new characters that not always added to the story itself, I found my mind wandering off the pages.

A Persuasive Heart, 5* I absolutely loved this cleverly adapted, modern take on Persuasion. The alterations made to fit the modern world was spot on. I liked that the author had not just transferred the events from the regency era but made them more plausible in a contemporary world. The sexual tension lay thick without being explicit, another trait I loved about this story...
North by Northanger 4* Funny twist to Northanger Abbey. Not the most plausible story I have read but definitely entertaining. Serial killers included...
Second Time's the Charm, 4* A sweet, romantic and slow-paced story about Marianne and Brandon Collins, although Elinor's and Edward's story was featured as well.
Thanksgiving on Hartfield Street, 3* Harriett Woodhouse's (Smith, she was adopted by the Woodhouses) story in a modern setting, written in 1.person. I was rather disappointed as I adore Emma while my interest doesn't stretch to Hariett, I'm afraid...
Melanie Perceived, 3* Melanie (Fanny Price) is an eager photographer. Eddie (Edmund) plays on the football team while Melanie takes pictures. They are best friends until MaryJo and Hank Crawford enters the field and things get muddled...
The Construction of a Heart, 3.5* Bennet's as the owner of a construction company was new but I do believe the interactions between our dear couple too limited to fall in love in a modern setting... The story was intriguing though.

I really liked this, fast-paced, quick read, suspenseful romcom. It held my attention through crazy ex-boyfriend, grizzly bear attacks and sizzling kisses.
I guess this was loosely inspired by Emma, Mr dependable sounds like Mr Knightly to me. Our main character Brooke did commit a capital offence by declaring Jane Austen books to hold too much romance. Snort...

Funny and entertaining YA read that I liked up until the end. The resolution to the conundrums were too heavily sugared for my taste, it was cringeworthy sweet.
Emma is supposed to be pretty, clever, rich and spoiled. When you remove rich and spoiled, as in this book, I struggle to see the connection to JA's work but it did not take away my enjoyment.

An entertaining and well adapted modern variation of Emma, unfolding at Harvard law school.
Emma was in her third year while George Knightly was a professor. Harriet Smith was transferred from Goddard after hurrican Kathrina. I thought the setting worked very well for a modern variation that kept the timeline of Emma largely intact but with modern twists. I felt that the comedic aspect of Emma had been lost though.

Cam (Emma) a bookish, nerdy and very insecure girl with a crush on her roommate Tyler (Knightly). The Football player who had to stop playing after a serious injury in high school and became an agent instead. It was at times a very funny read while it dragged in other places.
The plot evolved around the geeky Cam who works at a bar/bookstore/comic store, were picked up by her sporty, tall and handsome roommate. She doubted about her own worth compared to Tyler and an off and on romance ensued.
I absolutely loved this book from start to finish, it was masterfully adapted into the modern era. Sweet and engagingFabulous modern variation of Emma!

This was a Hollywood version, unfolding at the set of a musical movie. Emma and Knightly were the stars of the movie as well as best friends. I loved the development of their relationship.
I particularly liked the way Emma was portraited. Her flaws intact but the author also showed a vulnerable side to Emma, I was utterly impressed with the clever writing.

An engaging read, inspired by Jane Austen's Emma. Ladled with sexual tension (and the relief of the tension ;) Some scenes were familiar while others were new and fresh, I liked the unpredictability of having to guess rather than knowing it all from the start... A clever mashup with characters from PnP and Persuasion, this had a more adult feel than many of the "college" variations which were another trait I highly appreciated. A tightly written story of how Em and Ward overcome their self-imposed limitations and open up to love and happiness. I found it thoroughly entertaining and I will definitely read more books by this author.
