The story devided into two different An angst filled forced marriage scenario that kept me spellbound through 75 chapters and more than 250 000 words.
The story devided into two different plot lines (the chapters were marked by green or red) after the wedding that was spurred on by an incident at the Netherfield ball. The red was ladled with excruciating angst and the green had a milder level of angst. Both of our dear couple were innocent in the compromise which was staged by a third party but neither reacted with compliance nor grace.
This was a strong (headstrong) Elizabeth against a less likeable (horrible) Darcy who had to fight against adversity through sickness or a long separation. Loved the animosity between them that led to their characters development! For a long time, an HEA seemed impossible but fear not, it was brought on with cleverness and plausibility.
I absolutely loved every minute of reading this story that sent my heart racing and made my hands tremble in delightful anticipation of what would happen next. Heartily recommend it!
I struggled to like this Elizabeth and the multiple proposals of marriage. She is too heForced engagement scenario
Worthwhile but not overly engaging.
I struggled to like this Elizabeth and the multiple proposals of marriage. She is too headstrong and rude in her replies to be likeable. I might be biased though... I love forced marriage scenarios because I like to see them together at odds but this isn't that sort of book.
The book could be divided into 3 parts. The first enters at the Hunsford proposal where Elizabeth dropped the first page of the letter which led to the rumours of their engagement. This part was the denial of the inevitable part. The second part was the development of their mutual understanding and clearing away the misunderstandings. Still did not like Elizabeth very much... The third part was the Lydia/Wickham debacle which led to a long separation and some trouble with Lady Catherine. When they finally reunite, Elizabeth turned contrary for the umpteenth time and the fifth proposal ended, with the book, in a marriage...
Masterly executed forced marriage scenario! A slow burner that held my attention in an iron grip from start to finish. I would give it 10Unputdownable!
Masterly executed forced marriage scenario! A slow burner that held my attention in an iron grip from start to finish. I would give it 10* if I could.
Featured a somewhat badass Darcy who was forced into marriage with someone far beneath him by the folly of his own sister. Elizabeth held her head high and faced adversity with strength and poise. The change had to come from within as neither were without fault. The development of their relationship and their personal growth showed a brilliant insight into human nature.
I absolutely loved it!
Heartily recommend this book!
Rated: Chaste (Although there were allusions to marital relations it was done in a convoluted way.)...more

I do love this particular combination of classics and the story was quite compelling but I was not overly fond of the execution.
To some, Mr Darcy is the most important charcter, to me it is Elizabeth. While I can very well stomach this badass, portrait of Darcy, I didn't like this portrait of Elizabeth. She was brazenly forward and lacked her famous wit and eloquence. Her conduct was more in terms of what I would have expected from Lydia...
In addition, I thought the language and phrasing too modern.
The mystery surrounding the carriage accident and Georgiana's death held my attention and kept me turning the pages.

I absolutely loved it!
A well-used plot where ODC were captured alone in a storm but it the execution was deliciously emotional and masterfully crafted. I did not even mind the reuse of Austen's words, it flowed effortlessly in this new context.

Mr Darcy was on the run with a baby and needed a wife, quickly. He found one but she was perhaps not as welcoming as he had imagined. They were up against wickedly, evil forces in this fast-paced suspenser, teamwork was crucial...
The plot with the baby was unique and creative. I didn't read any reviews upfront so the plot took me by pleasant surprise and I have never seen anything quite like this before.
I loved the plot of a mail ordered bride in Texas. A delightful and engaging story that entered swiftly into a fabulous first meetingMail order bride.
I loved the plot of a mail ordered bride in Texas. A delightful and engaging story that entered swiftly into a fabulous first meeting between our dear couple. The insult was excellent and the animosity between them was firmly set. I loved the cute way Darcy managed to redeem himself somewhat in Elizabeth's eyes which is why I felt the rejection to the proposal was a bit harsh... Jane had travelled from their homestead in Mississippi with Elizabeth, to marry a suitor of her own. The twists to her story were entertaining, Miss Bingley did not disappoint either did Lady Catherine. The turn in Elizabeth at the end left me a little bit bewildered, I wonder if I missed something.
