I cannot finish it. Seems like every one of my girlfriends was reading this at one point of time so I eventually decided to give it a go. I was digging it at first- she has some really practical no-nonsense advice on getting shit done. I liked it. She’s funny and the book was engaging until she started talking about her husband. Dude. She is describing the beginning of her relationship with this asswipe... who treated her like a doormat that he could wipe her feet on, she compromised her morals and values for him to shit on her and play her. She has enough one day and breaks up with him and the very next day he is begging her back apologizing. Loooooooolllllllll! She took him back and they lived happily ever. Nope. Nope. Nope. I could rant about abuse, mind games etc, but I’m not going to. I just have such a huge issue with this chapter that I can’t be bothered with whatever else she has to say. Maybe because I’ve had therapy for some of the shit that she is talking about as if it’s NORMAL and ACCEPTABLE, but I cannot support her message with what I read/heard about this part of her life. First off, the author wants you to view your life as if it is a dream.... ok- I can see how viewing things through a dreamlike focus could probably help someone be a bit more objective about things that happen in your life. I think the main struggle I had was this books left no room for human connection. One of the agreements is to not take anything personally, which I think is GREAT- buuut when someone tells you "You are beautiful and wonderful", one is not to take that personally as well? I think that these 4 agreements will help protect your heart and take you to an enlightened state, but I just felt like there was real emotion missing from all these....more

I am so thankful to live in a time where self-help/self-realization books are prevalent. I'd imagine this book was truly ground-breaking for its time.I am so thankful to live in a time where self-help/self-realization books are prevalent. I'd imagine this book was truly ground-breaking for its time. It was amazing to read the authors account of being in the prison camps in WW2. Tragic and horrifying, yet being able to find those small joy's and a reason for living helped him make it through.
I would like to talk about these theories with a nihilist. That would be an interesting conversation!...more

I think that she has some really practical advice, and for those who may have never picked up a self-help book before I would imagine that this would make an impact. I have read other books (Malcolm Gladwell, Gabrielle Bernstein etc) that are more in depth and give practical applications to the *tips that she lists here.
I can really respect and appreciate what this woman did. #GIRLBOSS4EVA...more

Finally done with this one... and not because it was boring or long. When I picked up this book and made it though the first chapter I had highlighted 10 or more different quotes- so I really let myself take my time to get through this so I could soak it all up. This book came into my hands right when I needed it- like magic! It touched on so many struggles I've been dealing with lately and really broke things down for me when it comes to being able to achieve my goals. So much positive affirmation and soul digging going on here. I'm thankful for the things that I've learned.
There were sooooooo many things that gave me "ah ha!" Moments that I can't even begin to touch on them here. This one, with all my sloppy highlights and book markers, will be staying on my shelf for a long time...more

I picked this up because I have been so stressed out over a messy household, and I figured I'll give just about anything a shot at this point. I have been in my new-to-me house for almost 2 years and I still have cardboard boxes full of stuff in every room.... so yes. It's a problem. The fact that I NEED to do something to change my current living situation is what drove me to pick up this book, and for someone who is only curious about it and doesn't feel like their house/home lifestyle needs changing probably won't get much out of this. Someone referred to this author as bat-shit-crazy with her woowoo methods- hahaha... and maybe some of the things she talks about is a stretch... I'm unsure about needing to greet my house every time I walk in the door or to clean out my purse and thank it daily for working hard for me... but you know what? I'm gonna give it a try- because it might make me more conscious of my things.
I totally believe the testimony's of people who have gone through the whole KonMarie process, and their lives changing across the board. That is what prompted me to pick up this book. I have been living with things that stress me out and take up valuable space- when I get through all my items and can purge what doesn't "spark joy" I'll be able to have space and room to do the things that I really enjoy.
