This is unlike anything I’ve read before. Spooky and gritty. Set in Germany in 1932.
Callum is searching for a place where he can be free to be himself, so he joins his cousin in Berlin. One night out, things happen that are both confusing and intriguing. He discovers an alternate place where spirits reside. And Max, a soldier who died in the war.
There is political intrigue and suspense with others who want access to his abilities.
It’s hard to say more without giving things away. But I would say I’m inclined to call this a love story as opposed to a romance, which I don’t object to. It’s just good to know going in.
This was my first by Christian and I’m really very interested in reading more. It’s a unique style and it lends well to a spooky paranormal world. ...more

I almost didn’t read this when I received it and found out it was MF. I’m pretty much an exclusive MM reader, but I adored the first book, Salt, so I decided I wanted to give it a try. And for those that love Fearne, you will love this. It has the same beautiful style and intriguing characters you expect from her. The setting is stunning and the community of friends and family surrounding them are terrific.
The storyline was unique. An oyster farmer and a world-famous soccer player. When they meet on the beach one night, there is a connection that neither can ignore. What starts as a beautiful and tentative connection, soon becomes so much deeper and grander. One that they can’t ignore and breathes life into their lives and personal struggles.

Fearne has a really beautiful languid style of storytelling, and she picks some really interesting settings and occupations. In this case, a salt Island in France, which I loved. One of my favourite non-fiction books is Salt by Mark Kurlansky, so this story made my nerdy heart sing, not to mention my love of all things french!
Charles was a fascinating character, and lordy, I can’t imagine what it’s like to have a brain causing so much chaos. It was heartbreaking. But his strength was beautiful.
Some would ask why Florian would sign up for all of it. It’s a testament to the fact that our hearts aren’t logical. When someone speaks to you, you love all of them. And his Belgian was what his heart wanted.
I loved the way they helped and supported each other, while also finding their own personal strength to go after what they want and need.

What a fantastic Christmas story (and yes, I love a holiday story any time of the year!).
It’s got holiday cheer, vacation vibes, yummy chocolate, and a French chocolatier who’s in desperate need of an English golden retriever of a man in his life.
Max is a people pleaser, and in his effort to do something grand for his brother and best friend, he offends the owner of the chocolate shop.
Luca is stressed out, understaffed, and annoyingly attracted to the man who somehow manages to barrel into his life. But together they are sweet and sexy, and make some holiday magic during their whirlwind romance.
The audiobook is narrated by Dan Calley and I’m thrilled by that. He is such a talented narrator and a fantastic match for Charlie’s story. ...more
