Sometimes in life, you don’t get what you want, you get what you need. And in Home Game Storm and Emmett get exactly what they need - Each other.
They are very different from each other, but that means they get to see the world and life from a different perspective. Something they both need. Granted, they also drive each other insane and make a lot of assumptions about who the other person is.
I enjoy a story where I like both the characters, but also want to tell them they are both fools. Where their strengths are also their faults.
I loved Storm's ability to live life on his own terms I was also frustrated that it made him self-absorbed at times. And though Emmett’s heart was in the right place for his life’s purpose, it made him a little too single-minded. Together, they help the other shine....more

Whistleport is a small town with a lot of heart and fight. With the ice rink in dire need of help, the town rallies to help fix it. Led by exes Brooks and Rory.
It’s a second-chance romance. They broke up when so that Brooks could follow his NHL dreams, but with his father ill, Brooks has come home to help out. And with Rory back in his life, they discover that they may still be meant to be.
I enjoyed the town and its residents and their spirit. The couple was lovely, though they real shining star was hockey captain Ziggy. He was a gem!
There were some niggles in the timeline and things that didn’t fully make sense that distracted from the story, but still, it was an enjoyable one. ...more

Oh my gosh is there anything better than a sunshiney golden retriever hockey player breaking down the walls of a grumpy standoffish goalie? I say no!
Kayden is an all-around good guy who wants people to be happy and feel welcome. So it’s only to be expected that he gets paired up with the least friendly person alive. Maddox. The Canadian goalie who doesn’t trust easily.
I love a prickly exterior. It makes their inevitable fall into mushy love so satisfying....more

Ooof, so much emotional drama here. Especially East and his brother, and parents, and quite frankly himself. And Knox, co-dependent with his best friend and uncertain about his own worth. Not an easy run for these two.
“Every fantasy, every daydream of this man, none of them can compare to the real thing. It’s not perfect and shiny in the way fantasies are. It’s messy… but if I had a choice between the fantasy and the reality, I’d take reality every damn time.”
Brother and best friend Connor is a whirling dirvish of chaos, but man i cried when realized what he had been doing. He just wanted to be a good big brother. I need his story!
East and Know were a lot of fun, and I enjoyed them connecting and supporting each other. They had a lot going on, but they found their own way in the end. And I’m especially glad for Queer Collective in their lives. ...more

Oh geez, I am completely smitten with Mason and Ryan as a couple. They are just so sweet together, and I loved the progression of their relationship. No crazy drama, but also not fluffy. It’s full of delicious steam, great banter and lots of exploration. They were also tender and caring. Supporting each other in only the way two people meant for each other can.
They were really good at communicating, not so good at hiding their feelings and activities!
Mason is a sweet golden retriever of a man - strong, thoughtful, and he makes me mushy. Which is a perfect pairing for Ryan - Legs. The fabulous, self-assured, and talented drag queen. He gets a little mushy for Mason too!
There are lots of old friends - I love the mix of the Rugby team and The Court drag queens. As well as their forays into DnD. It was super fun.
Don’t forget the in-depth descriptions of sexy, sweaty rugby players in all their muscled goodness. ...more
It was torture watching Dominic struggle with the idea of coming out and his privacy being invaded. Not to mention facing the end of his career. And Shae, ugh, the poor pining man.
So many secrets, so much at stake. Mostly their hearts!
This is a long one, but it’s quite the journey that ultimately makes your heart grow three sizes. Two men who have been ‘together’ for years but hardly knew each other have created a connection they barely understand but have to rely on to get through everything happening in their lives.
The growth, love and understanding are exactly what you want from a romance. Two men who have found their safe place in the heart of the other. ...more

Hank - A swoony cowboy with a good soul, who is feeling a little lost in a community that doesn’t like him, doing a job he never really wanted.
Both struggle to live for themselves.
A cheeky proposition leads to a secret friend’s-with-benefits that ultimately turns into a romance for the ages. One that will win your heart that same way Hank won over the Four Forests. It’s a wonderful story with plenty of worries, tender moments, lots of laughs, and a chance to discover themselves.

Who doesn’t love a double bi-awakening. And with two amazing men and best friends at that.
Carter and Brendan are wonderful characters, and I love their friendship and bond. They are so perfect for each other. Supportive, understanding and caring. I love angst but I also love when there is ease in realizing their truths.
There is a mysterious suspense-filled drama that transpires which is exciting and entertaining. Though it also felt a little like it went from 0 to 100 in a blink, but ultimately I enjoyed it. It balanced out what was a very lovely and drama-free relationship.
I also enjoyed the friends and family. Lovely to see some old and new folks. ...more

A fun and cheeky story about another of our energetic cheerleaders. Willow gives us lighthearted fun, sweet and spicy with lots of fun banter.
Luke and Corey are a cute opposites attract pairing. Corey comes across as a grump, but really he’s just an introvert who uses it as a protective shield. Luke on the other hand is a dramatic sweetheart. It provides for some amusing scenarios.
It’s a short and quick read to perk up your day. ...more
Codependent and slightly sociopathic twins who desperately need therapy.
The premise is entertaining - Emmett had been impersonating his twin in Jonah’s class. When they meet after and external to the school a tenuous relationship is built. Attraction is never in question between them.
Except it is built on lies.
There’s a lot of drama and push and pull between them. There’s also a lot of self-actualization, by both, but especially Emmett, which was lovely. And though there is a strength to their bond, I wouldn’t describe it as swoony. It’s hard-earned and definitely requires them to choose love and trust every day.
I adore the Dalton family, especially older brothers West and Asher (who have their own stories). They’ve all had a hard time of it, but the bond of family has always won out, and they’ve all found partners that make them stronger. ...more

I enjoyed this a lot. Jay reminds me of me when I was his age. Being so blinded by one's principles and causes that you struggle to see nuance and grey areas. So ‘committed’ to the cause that he can’t see the difference between a father and his son. And being worried about his street cred in the movement. It really is a world of its own, and Max captured it perfectly.
I love him paired with Ryan. The rich kid who, like most of us, has a complicated relationship with his father. He loves him and wants to make him proud, but he also doesn’t want to be him.
I love what they bring to each other's lives, and how they each help the other to work through the things that are holding them back.
Despite some heavy topics, it is still a fun, cheeky, college story. Its resolution may feel a bit easy, but it's not meant to be an angsty story. Max gives us love and sex and swoon and ending to bring a smile to your face and some mush to your heart. ...more

A sweet mafia story sounds like an oxymoron, but KM perfectly blends their quintessential warm and playful style with the brutal mafia and MMA world. It means you flinch and swoon all at the same time.
Orion was such a deliciously complicated man. A grump who has lived a tough life, he’s doing whatever is necessary to support himself and care for his brother. That includes fighting for money and owing the mafia, whom he hates.
Elio is obsessed with the fighter and loves to rile him up while dreaming of being on his knees for him.
The tension between these two is delicious and I love how they slowly break down each other's walls and build a sweet (and dirty) relationship amongst all the chaos and expectations that exists in both their lives. ...more
Well, I definitely need to read more from Louisa and the Joy Universe. I’m super intrigued to get more.
Jordan is a force of nature. So eager and open. I love how he lives life without abandon. Yes, he lives a privileged life, but his Uncle does an amazing job at making sure he isn’t completely oblivious to it. But it does mean that he doesn’t see money as an obstacle that can’t be overcome.
Blaise on the other hand knows what it’s like to have to work for every dime. He’s a realist, but not bitter about it. What he is, is proud. So as much as he loves Jordan’s eagerness and desire to make life easier, it is a point of tension at times.
They are absolutely lovely together and their story really captures the age and the possibilities that come with it. The emphasis in this was on communication and supporting each other’s dreams. ...more

Oh Matty, you sweet summer’s child. How you remained so pure despite countless taking advantage we will never know, but we will protect you at all costs.
This story has some drama, but it’s all for a good cause. Still, Toronto’s gossip mill has plenty to chew on.
Seriously Matty is a big ol’ marshmallow teddy bear who wants to be loved for who is and a family. Seems simple enough, but sadly not so much.
It really isn’t a surprise that he would be helping a stranger by handing over the keys to his house and getting married to help him out. And Antoni could definitely use some help. Now that he’s the guardian of his best friend's three children he’s overwhelmed. Financially and emotionally.
What ensues is beautiful, sweet, chaotic, tragic, and funny all at the same time. The way they learn to trust and support each other, and the family they build is absolutely perfect.
I’m so glad we finally got Matty’s story, and Antoni and the children were exactly what he needed. ...more
I’m sorry for this fantastic series to end. It really was top-notch, and blew me away time after time.
Through much of the series, Nate was this mythical NHL god who then had a crushing blow from a career-ending injury. It’s heartbreaking to imagine and understandable that he’s struggling now. Taking over as the coach of the Arctic Titans is meant to be a distraction, but the true distraction is Carter.
Son of NHL royalty himself, Carter has been groomed to play hockey his entire life, there’s just a small problem of him not really wanting to make a career of it!
I loved Nate, and his journey to accepting his second act of life. He’s a wonderful guy and I love how much his nephew loves him. He’s so sweet with Carter and he was so supportive of Carter’s dreams.
Carter isn’t my favourite. He was a bit too immature for me, but I do love how he was willing to go after his dreams, and will definitely keep Nate on his toes for years to come.
All in all, it was an epic finale to this series. ...more

Harrison is such a fun-loving guy. He’s got boundless energy and is an absolute sweetheart at his core. He’s been unattached and enjoying hookups until recently when he’s started to re-evaluate what he wants.
Arlo is a bit of geek, a lot clumsy, and nervous about the readings he has to do for the children’s book he’s published. Until Harrison that is. Harrison who steps up to be there for Arlo in the most adorable way ever.
Honestly, the building of their friendship was precious, but their shifting to a relationship was all kinds of wonderful. No two guys deserved love more. And I love how they handle Arlo’s brother together. ...more

I almost didn’t read this when I received it and found out it was MF. I’m pretty much an exclusive MM reader, but I adored the first book, Salt, so I decided I wanted to give it a try. And for those that love Fearne, you will love this. It has the same beautiful style and intriguing characters you expect from her. The setting is stunning and the community of friends and family surrounding them are terrific.
The storyline was unique. An oyster farmer and a world-famous soccer player. When they meet on the beach one night, there is a connection that neither can ignore. What starts as a beautiful and tentative connection, soon becomes so much deeper and grander. One that they can’t ignore and breathes life into their lives and personal struggles.

And Smitty was exactly was Bryson needed. He’s lively and chaotic and downright precious. Smitty needs the tender care of Bryson, someone to cherish him and choose him.
